CENTRAL OREGON OLDER ADULT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INITIATIVE
WHAT: To help improve the quality of life & systems of care for older adults and persons with disabilities. The Initiative is funded by the Oregon Health Authority which contracts with Portland State University’s Institute on Aging for data collection and analysis.
WHY: Older Adults and persons with disabilities face unique barriers to having their needs met.
WHO: The Initiative places 24 Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialists throughout the state of Oregon to promote better access for older adults & persons with disabilities to necessary behavioral health services.
HOW: Specialists conduct community education and workforce development trainings; engage in collaboration with other agencies to improve outcomes for older adults; and provide complex case consultations to providers, caregivers, and individuals.
