Just wanted to share this incredible stop motion unboxing from CineChimp, completely insane ! Not especially interested by the Canon R5, but that video is a terrific work of art. watch video on watch page

What a milestone, it's been a great ride ! Thank you SO MUCH for all your support and your kind messages lately ! I guess there's a lot of luck involved because up until now I've only uploaded 9 videos in total :) Every path is different but in my case, I love focusing on quality instead of quantity as much as possible and I do care about the time you sacrifice watching the videos. The downside is that some videos literally take months to make, plus I have to do all the editing / VFX / sound design myself and since I'm not full-time on this channel, it's hard to keep up ! But I am working very hard at the moment on the next video. Quarantine alone can be tough to bear so I'm very grateful to have this passion filling my time. Take care and see you soon !

Just thinking ! If you're stuck at home and wish to improve your vfx / editing skills, it's the PERFECT time to try making personal videos and go through plenty of VFX & motion graphics tutorials on youtube. That's pretty much how I learned After Effects ! This software is incredibly powerful but its learning curve is quite steep so you do need to spend a good amount of time and dedication to burn those skills deep inside you brain. I had this "After Effects" lockdown at some point ... I would spend very late evenings and nights struggling with very simple things, wandering on forums to find the answer, before crushing it at 3am ! It was very tough because plenty of time & energy went into this and no one really understood why I was wasting time on this software.

But it's exactly this kind of struggle that creates the skills because you are proactively trying to solve the problem and no one is doing it for you. That is also why I'm still wondering how I could bring useful tutorials to life since the best way to learn is to try for yourself ! Also, I you might find it hard to learn for the sake of learning. It's easier to have a goal. A VFX scene you need for a project or the famous Thanos desintegration effect that you wish to replicate to impress a few friends. I learned through Video Copilot tutorials mostly but Cinecom and Peter Mc Kinnon produced excellent tutorials too. Today I can leverage these skills to visually explain difficult concepts through animated videos, no regrets.

( This VFX shot was rendered 15 years ago, honestly at the time there was zero professional goal I was just messing around, showing off to some friends and having fun discovering visual effects :) )

Ok so the Covid-19 situation is getting quite serious here in France we are starting our lockdown and of course since 100% of the gigs have been cancelled and economy has stopped I will probably have more time to make content here on this channel :) Wherever you are please be aware that the best thing you can do to avoid uncontrollable spreading and thus save lives is STAY AT HOME . Say no from now on to every postponable social gathering even if it’s just meeting 2-3 friends. Don’t wait for government orders to come, because they all seem to act way too late.

It’s a very tough time for all of us in the video industry, plenty of courage to anyone reading those lines !

Today is Black Friday. So many gear promos ! Some cool stuff but I do find it’s often unnecessary equipment... For those of us lucky enough to have a bit of video equipment, what do you think about spending this day repairing, selling or giving away the gear we don’t use/need anymore ?
