What's upppp fam! I've been diving into confidence, overthinking, and the general psychological side of the game to a crazy extent the last year or so... and I've learned so much.
I have a ton of content coming on it, but I wanted to give you guys this quiz/questionnaire that I think is a really good starting point to begin diving into your mental skills training, and get a feel for what you need to work on most. It'll be quick, but it takes you through a refreshing process of looking internally, reflecting on the roots of your psychological shortcomings, and getting an answer that hopefully gives you some clarity on how to train the psychological tools youu need most! Then, next week, I'll be dropping the Mental Skills Training Academy where you'll be able to work on this daily.
Anyways, if you want to take the quiz and get a better feel for your own psychological skills as a hooper, here it is! fhapsk80jsk.typeform.com/to/qD5BMbbC
Hope everybody is doing well ❤️🤝🌏
Hoopers and coaches in Europe… I’m BACK this Spring 👀
We’ll be coming to some familiar places, some new ones. And this will be the best one yet, no doubt in my mind. I’m so excited to help you guys learn how to train on your own, become more confident, and overall change your perspective on the game a bit!

I think we often overthink our training as hoopers.
Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely vital to research, inform yourself, and constantly sharpen your training the best training based on what you've learned. If you're not making somewhat regular changes to your training, you're probably not learning enough.
BUT... at a certain point, we can also get stuck looking for the perfect method. The drills that will take your game past everyone else. And in reality, those drills don't exist.
Drills are just tools to use in a bigger picture. A drill could be terrible for one player and amazing for another. So, choose whatever drills you feel like will help work on certain skills, make sure they challenge you, and don't get paralysis by analysis!
And then don't forget the most important part: consistency, focus, intent within those drills, and ultimately putting it into the real game.
What’s your biggest struggle as a hooper?
Want to continue to pick you guys’ brain so I can help you out in the best way possible 🧠
Some of the most UNDERRATED skills for hoopers, in my opinion:
1) Flow state accessibility: this is more of a psychological skill. We all know the feeling of being in the zone, and if you can reach that “flow state” more often, you’re going to have more big games, and more consistent performances!
2) Tactical skill: being able to consistently be in the right place at the right time for cuts, screens, and more. This is something I’ve seen at a widespread level in Europe but lacking a bit more around the world. If you can develop this through film and more… you’re ahead of the game.
3) FLOATERS: I think this one is becoming more and more understood, but not worked on quiteeee enough. Whether you’re a 6’8” powerhouse or small guard, these help you finish effortlessly, extend your career (less jumping with shotblockers) and even preserve energy.
4) Relaxed aggression: being aggressive, fast, and powerful with your attacks, but in a way that also allows you to stay composed, on-balance, and in control.
These aren’t the easiest to develop, but man… they’ll make a big difference. I’ll do my best to continue showing you guys how to develop these little intricacies of the game. If you’re a part of the BAM family — I want nothing more than y’all to reach your ceiling and dreams through the game ❤️
What’s upppp! Big news: just dropped my first book ever, “Deep Skill!” 📖🔬
Been working on this for over two years, so I’m super hype to finally be able to get it out to y’all. While it was originally aimed towards coaches and trainers, I made it as applicable and digestible for players, too!

Quick couple tips to watching film
1) Look for things that other people will not see (and that YOU probably wouldn't see with the naked eye). Pause, rewind, slow down, and everything to ensure you're seeing new patterns and details, and more importantly, WHY they're happening.
2) Watch full games... this will help you understand what actually happens most often, see and study the non-flashy plays, and develop a more realistic expectation on failure (most players only watch highlights, so they become conditioned to think that the best players don't fail much. Trust me, they do).
3) Don't JUST watch players with a similar play style to yourself. Watch a wider variety to broaden your perspective and understanding of hoops in general.
