The Treasury is the Government's lead advisor on economic, financial and regulatory policy.
We provide strategic policy advice on the New Zealand economy and produce a range of publications and economic data. We also monitor and manage the financial affairs of the Government; assess public sector proposals which have economic and financial implications; and deliver operational services through the Debt Management Office, Export Credit Office and our Commercial Transactions Group. In addition we are one of three central agencies, along with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the State Services Commission, that are jointly responsible for providing leadership, coordination and monitoring across the entire public sector.
