Today is the anniversary of the tragic passing of Sarah Hegazy. Sarah was a 30-year-old Egyptian queer feminist whose resistance centred around a deconstruction of class power and struggle, she took her own life whilst in exile in Canada.

Three years previously, Sarah Hegazy was arrested, tortured and subjected to sexual assault in prison for 3 months for waving a rainbow flag at a concert in Cairo. She had talked about how her time in prison affected her mental health.

I wrote this song ‘Dusty Frames’ inspired by Sarah and recorded this live performance at Florence Road Cafe in Brighton which I’m sharing with you today to bring awareness to her story. watch video on watch page

I headed back to Black Barn Studios where I recorded the album, to do a live session with my extraordinary band. ‘Sail Away’ is an important track to me, I explored my interest in spirituality, looking outwards not inwards, believing there was a way through the dark times, and the chorus is really about my son Otis, and how he helped me get to the other side. Through pain, I grew as a person, and found something that was long missing, a belief in something greater than my own existence. watch video on watch page

I made a playlist of some of the music I’ve been listening to the past couple years, I’m sure it’s shaped me and the album in some way, so hope you enjoy it!

Wow, what an evening! Thank you so much to everyone who came to my show last night. I said it all on stage, but your support blew me away. Honoured to have shared the stage with my awesome band, what a group of lovely, insanely talented musicians. Was a real joy to play music with you all, and have such a wonderful crowd to play to. Till next time …

The day has arrived! My fifth album ‘This Ain’t The Way You Go Out’ is out in the world. Feels like so much has happened in the past five years since my last album, life is one hell of a ride, but even though so much of this album is spawn from a really difficult time, when I think about the songs and the music, it honestly fills me up with so much joy.

It’s probably taken me over two years to make this, and really feels like a crucial part of my rehabilitation, of building me back up, after my confidence in my body and self were as low as they could be. From the living room jams with David and Ben, which was step one, in filling my soul with goodness, to recording at Paul's studio with Charles, and then working with Kwes and Dan Parry. Every musician involved added so much, and the fact you all wanted to be apart of the record, made me believe in it even more.

As always, the biggest of thanks to you for being here, still caring, listening to my music, I am eternally grateful. Definitely makes it even more fun being able to share the music with you and hearing your thoughts. Lucy x

It was really important for me to try and capture some live videos of us playing as a band, because as you know, I’m not able to tour this album and will just be doing the one show at the Roundhouse (which I’m chuffed to say is now sold out). But for all of you that won’t be able to see us play live this time, this video is for you.

Was a lot of fun playing this new track ‘Over When It’s Over’ with such a special group of musicians and in such a great studio. Big thanks to Paul Weller for letting us use it, was really nice to go back to where the album was recorded. watch video on watch page

It’s been a real buzz sharing these new songs with you, can’t quite believe the album is out in two weeks!

As you can imagine, having a baby combined with my diagnosis, put a strain on my relationship. However, like all things, getting through the hard times together has just made us stronger, which is very much what ‘Over When It’s Over’ is about. (Sorry for the over-sharing.)

Big thanks to all of you who have listened to the new music, pre-ordered or pre-saved the album, I appreciate it so so much.

The countdown is on!
