Curating Bowie: Video Artist Nacho Talks Sound, Vision, and Legacy | Maggiore on Bowie interview | 2025
•
New interview with John Maggiore, just went live a few hours ago. John and I talk Bowie, Bowie, Bowie. And film editing. And why I do what I do.
It was early morning for me, and I was recovering from dental surgery id had a week prior. Those caveats notwithstanding, it’s a pretty good watch if you wanna know about me and my craft.

Sad to wake up today and hear the news about the passing of The Jam’s brilliant drummer, Rick Buckler.
The band’s singer Paul Weller has tweeted:
I'm shocked and saddened by Rick's passing. I'm thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking. To all the pubs and clubs we played at as kids, to eventually making a record. What a journey!
We went far beyond our dreams and what we made stands the test of time. My deepest sympathy to all family and friends.
Replying to Paul Weller, The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton has written:
I was shocked and devastated to hear the very sad news today. Rick was a good guy and a great drummer whose innovative drum patterns helped shape our songs.
I’m glad we had the chance to work together as much as we did. My thoughts are with Leslie and his family at this very difficult time.

A Portrait of Mark Wardel | A Film by Bernd and Nacho | 2023
London, May 20th 2023
Artist Mark Wardel creates highly regarded David Bowie inspired art. Filmmakers Bernd and Nacho share Mark’s obsession with David Bowie in the 1970’s. And his desire to create art under David Bowie’s influence. The three arranged to meet up with each other for the first time, with cameras and recording equipment to document Mark’s art, his process and his story.
This film is day two of their time together.

You shan’t go to the ball, Nacho
During BowieCon23 in NYC, I was very preoccupied with the finishing touches to my DB Live Earls Court film. On the Saturday, I barely left my hotel room and just slogged away at the work. Consequently I missed the Saturday night Bowie Ball.
The next day I was excited but gutted to see on social media an audience shot video of Carlos Alomar spontaneously joining the Jeff Slate band on stage for a dynamite version of Fame. Carlos had been beckoned on stage from the audience and was lent a guitar. He seemed to indicate the instrument was not much to his liking, but rapidly retuning it, he was soon ready to play.
FOMO, or rather RAHMO (regret at having missing out) is a great driver of creativity for me. So I asked Jeff Slate if he had a desk audio of the performance, and then I put out an all points bulletin for peoples cellphone footage, and here is the result.
