COMPETITION IS THE HIGHEST AMONG MEDIOCRE COACHES
-
One of the biggest hurdles that coaches see as they try and grow their business is the fact there are a zillion coaches in our space.
-
Listen, that is a blessing if you change the lenses you look through. š
-
All you have to do is this simple thing to pull ahead of all the mediocrity out there- you just have to push your clients results to a whole new level.
-
Iām not talking about being ecstatic that you got Karen from 198 lbs to 188. Thatās average, thatās expected.
-
Iām talking about getting Kare from 198 to 150, a whole new person who is singing your praises for changing her life. THAT is elite, that creates word of mouth and gets 5 of Karenās friends to hire you.
-
Iām not talking about putting your client in stage looking like they need to diet another 2 months. Iām talking about making it your goal to make alllll the other competitors on stage look f@t standing next to them. (My clients are smiling because Iāve told many of them thatās our goal so they can envision it in their head as they prep)
-
If this isnāt your mindset then change it. Work harder, learn MORE, apply it, and look at all the mediocre coaches as a blessing because you get to stand out next to them because they just canāt cut it.

Here are some successful keys to bringing up your back. This is Renee Schneider, and her back was her most lagging body part. Pic on left is April 2021 at a show and right is current as we finish offseason and begin prep, so about 2.75 years here.
-
Step 1: train with MORE volume total per week on back days. (More total sets is the easiest way to look at this)
-
Step 2: train back twice a week, never once a week for any body part you are trying to bring up with priority.
-
Step 3: only only ONLY use the exercises you feel the BEST in your back muscles when you train. If that means you canāt feel pull-ups worth a $hit but you feel lat pull downs by all means ditch the pull ups. And no you donāt have to deadlift to build a great back, but you can deadlift and build a great back if the exercise is done right. Follow?
-
Step 4: eat your high cal days on the days you train back. We want these extra cals being used for back growth thatās fresh lot trained that day. A bit of bro science since we donāt have research on this but it makes sense and Iāve seen it play a role in the trenches as a coach.
-
Step 5: TIME. The one no one wants to hear. Except winners like Renee who are in it to WIN. Look at the greats at anything they do, they apply the best part- time and patience.
-
I hope this helps you all in your goals for 2024!

If you want to build your best physique youāll never be able to say āI donāt have time to count my cals and prep my foodā
People that say this usually spend hours on their phones, watch hours of TV, and eat out multiple times a week for 1-2 hours at a time.
They have time, they just donāt have their priorities right.
If this is you, you can do better. šŖā¤ļø

It's hard to be successful and win using your time and energy to tear others down.
Coaches. Athletes. Show promoters. Organizations.
Business owners. It's everywhere. It's insecurity because someone else is WINNING more than they are.
Ever notice semi-successful people in our industry that only make it to a certain level but never really go that far? Heck I even see some of the top people in our industry right now who are sliding backwards because of this.
I watch a lot of successful people not just to see what they are doing right, but what they are doing WRONG.
It's hard to build something great by tearing down others around you, it's much better to build ALONG SIDE THEM.
We are human. Trust me, I have to contain the old Trailer Park John more than you would think seeing some stuff on here and wanting to say something. I stay quiet anymore. It will never bring anything good or help with winning.

Cool pic from 2016 that I found showing Lenoās insane transformation. He went on to win the very first 1st Phorm Transformation Challenge and $50k that year.

The reason I am sharing this is because it shows what training HARD with weights in the gym and using a caloric deficit will do. This was mostly gym and diet, NOT a ton of cardio. I see a lot of great fat loss before and afters but Iām telling ya- if you train 3 days a week with weights and do a lot of cardio as opposed to training 5-6 days with weights you just wonāt have the muscle when youāre done that you could hold onto.
-
Overall weight loss is great but make sure you understand the final look youāre going for. It can be whatever you like it doesnāt have to be like this, success is what YOU want to achieve at the end. But remember- more muscle means better metabolic rate, better insulin sensitivity, more strength, I could go on and on.
