An ambitious and dedicated musician, James Shaw is a Halifax based saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator. He has held faculty positions at NSCC music arts program and worked as director of jazz at the Halifax Music Co-op for over 4 years. Shaw currently leads his own community big band program called Jazz Music School and is an active freelance musician in the Halifax and Maritime music scene. His group the Vesuvius Big Band released their debut album on July 19th, 2021 which he writes, directs and performs with.
