Hereâs Nik:
Iâm so proud to announce my second Chewing album, âSongs For LinnĂ©aâ out September 13. Itâs just me on the piano. No overdubs. No singing. Two songs from this album are now streaming everywhere. There will only be one run of this album on beautiful white limited edition vinyl.
When my first child was born, I played piano for her almost daily. This album is for her, to have a document of the music from the beginning of her life. Who knows what music consumption will be like decades from now. Making a physical version of this album is so important, so she can hold and listen to this vinyl in 20 years. Iâve sung this Beatles song for her every night, before she was even born, to help calm her down when she was kicking inside my wifeâs belly.
More songs will be released each month, two at a time, until the albumâs release, as well as announcing my debut concert as Chewing; a one time, intimate, special Los Angeles record release show.
Written, performed & mixed by Nik Ewing
Except âShe Loves Youâ written by you know who & âFirst Melodyâ written by LinnĂ©a & Nik Ewing
Engineered by Chris Sorem
Mastered by Dave Harrington (DARKSIDE anyone?)
Recorded on March 25 & October 26, 2023 at Nest Recorders in Los Angeles, Calif.

We made a short film with Jonathan Chu (director of our April, Alpharetta, NYE and Tap Dancer music videos) as a companion piece of sorts to "But I'll Wait For You" (itself a companion piece of sorts to "Time Will Wait For No One"). We will be streaming the film exclusively on Veeps, May 3rd!
You can get access by pre-ordering our new album "But I'll Wait For You" or by purchasing a ticket below. For those of you that have already pre-ordered the record, a code for a free ticket to watch the stream will be sent to your email.

NOVEMBER TOUR
When we post tour dates and you comment âok, but what about ____?â, we see you. A lot of these cities we havenât played in a long time and we didnât want to wait longer. Our Time Will Wait For No One But Iâll Wait For You Tour continues in November. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am local. But if you sign up for our newsletter, you can get access to the pre-sale happening tomorrow.
A big theme of Time Will Wait For No One, But Iâll Wait For You is being there for one another, and part of that is accepting change. With that, we wanted to share that our latest album and its upcoming tours will be the last with Kelcey as a member of Local Natives. We started making music together when we were teenagers, our bond is so much deeper than just bandmates; we have a true family love between us. While weâre of course sad to see our very talented and wonderfully weird friend go, weâre supportive of his decision to step away from Local Natives to focus on other projects. Weâre excited to see what lies ahead for Kelc and wish him nothing but the best.
Endings are also new beginnings. For the four of us, this next chapter gives us a chance to reimagine what it means to make music together, and ultimately has deepened our commitment to Local Natives. Any impasse or threshold in life can feel like youâre on shaky ground, but it can also be a creatively generative time. Weâre working on new music, weâre psyched about the future of LN, and canât wait to share the next chapter when the time comes.
The TWWWFNO BIWFY era will be the last with Kelcey. For now weâre looking forward to celebrating what we have all done together over the last six records, and whatâs yet to come.
Love,
LN

We (including Matt!) will be doing an AMA over on IndieHeads Reddit this weekend. Come ask us anything (AUA?)

Today's the day, 'But I'll Wait For You' is out now! This album is the second half of a large body of music we made together. It's a companion piece. A sister album. Maybe not an answer to a question, but an exhale to an inhale. So little is in our control, but among all this chaos we can choose to be there for each other.
Today we are together in LA, celebrating the release of this album while putting the finishing touches on a short film we made to accompany it. We're getting ready to go on tour and share most of this music live in a physical space for the first time. We are so grateful to have fans who have been with us for so long and let us take risks and begin anew again and again.
We hope you enjoy the second half of this body of work, and we can't wait to see you soon.
Thank you again to John Congleton, Michael Harris, and Danny Reisch, the incredibly talented producers who helped us bring these songs into their fully realized selves.
