I feel like artistic ideas rejected as ''bad ideas'' inevitably come back in some form or other, 6 months, a year, 2 years later, and now they're good. It's not that they were bad, it's just that they arrived too soon

Tune in tomorrow (Wednesday)at 8 PM EST, I will live stream a complete analysis of Chopin’s 3rd ballade, as well as a practice session of the piece after that (where you’ll see me sweat, swear, drop piano, start piano again, etc) All the best in your musical endeavours!

Hey everyone. Recently, I've kept myself busy trying to research every major artist in the ''Neoclassical'' movement, in the likes of Max Richter, Hania Rani, Olafur Arnalds, etc. At first, I was aiming to do a video in which I present a ''complete'' panorama of the scene, but quickly I am realizing that the amount of fascinating artists is just way too big, and that a super long video on the subject might not be the best way to present this.

Instead, I'm considering to start a new YouTube series, which could be called something like : The Neoclassical Review, in which i present some well known composers in the scene along with some lesser known but interesting ones. This could include analysis of recent pieces, composer spotlights, historical context, maybe even interviews with some of those artists talking about their creative process.

I'm still going to do a general video on the Neoclassical movement, which could be a good way to kickstart the series.

What do you think? Is the name good? Is there already something out there? How many artists should i feature per video?

Cheers!

I NEED YOUR HELP. My next video will be an attempt to present a complete panorama of the neoclassical music scene, with the likes of Olafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Hania Rani, Jóhann Jóhannsson, etc. along with what inspires me in their music, some analysis, etc. Can you LINK to some lesser known musicians and composers in that field that you think I should know about? My main focus will be on instrumental/cinematic music of the last twenty years or so. Thank you in advance and peace everyone

Hilarious. I said in my last video that the only thing that was impossible is to get an F# in the dominant chord. The very next day, teaching a Chopin waltz, I run into this. To be fair, it's not exactly part of the chord but it's more of an appogiatura, but still, this is a color that definitely exists. Props to Frederic for teaching me the hard way that nothing is impossible in music.
