I'm gonna join the chorus of creators who are telling you that it's getting harder to make ends meet. Somewhere between the general decline of the economy, the US dollar specifically (most of my money comes from the USA), the across-the-board decline in views, the slashing of advertising and marketing budgets, and the rise in the cost of living, things are just much tighter for creators. My recent Downton Abbey video was warmly received and I'm happy with it, but it just didn't get enough views to justify its cost. Please don't assume my Patreon income is profit - it's pre-tax, pre-cost, pre-rent/bills. If this continues the channel just won't be viable any longer!
Obviously, many of you will be in similar situations so don't stretch yourselves, but if you can please join up and support. For your money you'll get extra videos, access to scripts/drafts to give feedback, and an econ reading club for £5 and up tiers! Plus I'm always responsive in private messages if you have any questions.

Opposition to rent control massively overemphasises the negatives while all but ignoring the positives. The debate is stuck in the past. Read my article on Current Affairs:

Howdy everyone, I'm now on Means TV, which is a creator-owned streaming platform. You can find all my videos on there and help fund a platform where creators have a stake and a say, very much in line with the ethos of this channel! In addition, my new video Downton Abbey and the Origins of Capitalism is already up on there!

Really enjoyed my chat with @1DimeRadio, we went on for hours! All the usual topics but also some stuff I didn't expect about family and community, he's a great interviewer. Check it out here:

I’m so glad to see that the inimitable economist Nathan Tankus has started putting his video/audio output on YouTube. His knowledge of the US Government and financial system is unparalleled and he is basically the only person in the world capable of understanding the trump/musk payments crisis created by DOGE and its terrible policies. I’d really recommend the channel and this video in particular. watch video on watch page

I am an academic economist from the UK who has long been critical of the economics profession and how economics is used in public policy. Mostly the channel will cover economics with a critical perspective but I aim to educate people about economics in the process, so I'll try to explain key concepts and ideas along the way. That way, even if you disagree with aspects of the videos you will hopefully learn something from them. I am interested in more than just economics and will likely do videos covering other topics such as statistics and politics.
