After getting some feedback regarding the first speed chart, here's an update!
This chart is really about helping us know how many notes per second really start to sound impressive so we have some perspective on our shred guitar goals.
What do you think of the new update? Where do you typically play in the speed tier list? What's your NPS goal?

Here’s a handy Notes Per Second (NPS) chart to help you see what level of speed you're currently playing at — and maybe give you a little motivation to aim higher if you're into pushing your limits.
I put this together not just to help others get a sense of where they’re at, but also for myself — I’ve been facing a few struggles while working on a new speed picking course, and laying things out visually like this really helped me get some perspective.
Do you agree with how the levels are ranked?
Would you shift anything around?
Let me know what you think — I’m curious to hear where you’d place yourself and why!

We're going to continue with ripping off Iron Maiden's The Trooper to show how you can use songs you like in order to start writing your own stuff, but first we're going to check out a video called "What Guitar Teachers Don't Tell You" and something from Martin Miller and Levi Clay that discusses Playing with Speed or with Feel and which is more important.
Questions are always welcome and encouraged. Hope to see you on the stream!
Stream is happening on Thursday, August 22nd at 3 PM (pacific time zone)

For tomorrow's live stream (Thursday at 3 PM - Pacific Time Zone)
We're going to watch a video from Martin Miller titled "Practice Does NOT Make Perfect".
Then, we're going to show how you can start coming up with your own ideas for writing metal songs by basically ripping off what's been done! Iron Maiden's the Trooper will be the reference song.
All questions are welcome too, so if you've got topics you'd like discussed, please share!

Got some requests for this week's livestream!
We'll be checking out a video from Cameron Cooper where shred guitar is being taught. I was asked what I think about the advice he gives in the video.
After that we're going to talk about a seldom used scale called Neapolitan Major.
If you have any questions you'd like to ask, please do so!
The livestream will be at 3 PM (pacific time zone) on Thursday the 8th. Hope to see you then!

Thursday, the 24th of July at 3 PM (Pacific Time Zone)
After posting a clip saying how important it is to slowly increase your speed to help ensure accuracy, I received a lovely comment saying Martin Miller disagrees with me. So, we're going to check out a video he made on How To Play Faster.
Then, we'll check out something from Vinnie Moore. This was requested during last week's live stream. There's a section in the song that's causing some trouble, and we're going to see what can be done to help!
Any questions you have, bring 'em!!!

This was given to a student to work on changing strings while picking fast.
Because you are changing strings after performing an up stroke, using an upward escape motion (usually used with a downward pick slant) can be very beneficial in playing things like this nice and clean at fast speeds.
However, eventually you may end up picking so fast that you can't avoid hitting the string you're trying to leave. As long as your muting technique is solid, you can hit that string while going to the new string and you won't even hear the unwanted string being struck!
You can see a video demonstration of this here: www.milehighshred.com/freetabs/mikehell-5-4-20-2-u…

This was given to a student to work on their picking/strumming endurance while palm-muting power chords (aka: 5th chords).
The chord progression is climbing up a Half-Whole Diminished Scale.
The count for this is 1ena2en-3ena4en-
