We recently interviewed Aidan Roberts about his ascents of Arrival of the Birds and Spots of Time. For those of you who aren't into the discussion of grades you'll be glad to hear that we didn't ask a single question about them 😂

We're just about to publish this week's Ticklist, but just as we were uploading it @WilliamBosi published this and now we wish we'd filmed it five minutes later. #BosiWatch is BACK 👀

This week's Ticklist will be dropping shortly and within it we'll be talking about Jim Pope's onsight ascent of Strawberries, E7 6b. It's a route with a long and fascinating history, ranging back from its first ascent by Ron Fawcett in 1980, through to its first onsight by Stefan Glowacz in 1987. In the decades that have followed there are only been three other onsights - Jorg Verhoeven, Hansjorg Auer and Steve McClure. Jim's is the fourth. Pretty cool how a route put up over 40 years ago is still challenging the modern generation of climbers!!

Aidan Roberts - aka. the man with Britain's biggest shoulders - has just put up a new 8C!!
'Shadow Women' adds four moves onto the start of John Gaskin's 'Little Women'. The grade of the latter has shifted quite significantly since the first ascent, with the original grade of 8A+ sounding like it might be closer to 8B+. This is Aidan's eleventh 8C and his eight first ascent at the grade. He's made a further four first ascents at 8C+, as well as a 9A repeat of Shawn Raboutou's Alphane.
There's footage of the FA over on the@WEDGECLIMBING channel, who are well worth a follow (if you don't already).

Well, that's the Ticklist sorted for this week - Mat Wright has just made the first ascent of 'Magical Thinking', a new E10 7a at Pavey Ark in the Lake District. Sounds like it's mind-bendingly bold, to the extent that it makes its next door neighbour - Neil Gresham's Lexicon - look safe 😱
