Epic find at the thrift store yesterday. GoldenEye 007 on VHS for $1.99.

I haven't watched the movie in forever. Maybe not in my adult life (believe it or not). Should I watch it and make a video on some of the differences (or similarities) between the movie and the game? I know it's super basic, but after all these years, there might be some stuff I pick up on that I'd never considered before. Probably some super obscure details that few others would notice.

What is the record for beating the Running Man with no timer manipulation?

This has been driving me crazy for years. I know you can't beat the running man. I also know you can get a time of 00'00 via timer manipulation and warp glitches. (He still wins).

But what's the record with just typical, Ocarina of Time movement methods? No timer manip, just Epona, bomb slides, and things like that?

The fastest I've found is a '55 on YouTube from 14 years ago. Has anyone done faster? It's the closest thing OoT has to a "single level" speedrun, so I'm surprised it's not a more popular, competitive and well documented category over the years.

After all, there are a billion "full game" OoT categories. Why not one for "Running Man - No Timer Manipulation?"

Hello friends. SpeedLore has returned on the ‪@SpeedLore‬ channel!

This year, I'll be exploring the stages in 007: The World is Not Enough (TWINE). And the first episode features some remarkable World Record Progression history, which all changed when a mysterious speedrunner sent me a kind of manifesto. If you enjoy super deep dives into niche speedrunning lore, check it out!

Thanks also for all the love on the recent Pokemon Snap video. Feel free to comment or suggest any topic, obscurity, oddity, or any such thing on this post! Stay true, and all the best! watch video on watch page

A viewer sent in this screenshot from the Mario Kart 64 instruction manual. He wrote that, because DK is breaking through the fence in the screenshot, that it was a hint that such a thing was doable in game, and would lead to a shortcut on the DK's Jungle Parkway course.

Did you ever get trolled by the instruction manual, game box or any other kind of concept art?

Will Ace's Facility Agent 0:42 ever get tied or beaten? https://youtu.be/5iCiKo6qAck

Or have we reached the "late stage" of speedrunning, where little development remains, there are few new speedrunners to on-board, and many of the records may last for the rest of time?

I generally believe that Stealing Stars in Mario Party is a bad strategy. They are way overpriced from Boo, and don't add new stars to the overall economy of the game pool.

Toad's stars only cost 20 coins and are additive to the game, while Boo only removes 50 coins from circulation., whilst the overall star-count remains the same.

There are of course, exceptions to this, particularly in the late game, when stealing stars provides a two-star swing from an opponent. But generally, stealing stars for 50 coins from Boo is harmful to the overall economy of a Mario Party game. I feel this doesn't get discussed often enough.

What are your thoughts? #MondayMorningMeditations
