God Almighty has blessed humanity with the religion of Islam and honored them with His prophet, the unlettered Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the best of mankind. People became loving brothers after being divided and hostile towards each other. Thus, God reminded them in His words: "And remember the favor of Allah upon you when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together, so you became brothers by His favor. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided" (Quran 3:103).

When we look at the universe and within ourselves, we see the countless blessings of Allah upon us, and His mercies continuously surround us without interruption. It is obligatory for the servant to speak about the blessings of Allah and to give thanks for the gifts and favors He has bestowed upon us. He has enveloped us with well-being in both our religion and worldly matters, and granted us security, peace, and prosperity in the land and among the people, as well as health in our bodies, honor, beauty, and children.

Speaking about the blessings of Allah, whether religious or worldly, means showing gratitude and taking pride in them. When a person speaks of a divine blessing, they should intend to show the grace of Allah upon them and others, and encourage others to desire what is with Allah and be thankful for what He has given. For Allah is our Creator and Sustainer, and His blessings and gifts are more than can be counted or enumerated. As Allah says: "And whatever blessing you have is from Allah" (Quran 16:53), and He also says: "And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful" (Quran 14:34).

The first stage of gratitude for these blessings is to become aware of them, to feel them, and not to forget the favor that has reached us. We must fully realize that all these blessings that bring us happiness come from one Giver, with no partner, the Lord of all worlds, the Creator of all creation, the Lord of lords, and the Causer of causes. The second stage of gratitude is to use these blessings for the purposes for which Allah created them—in obedience and in fulfilling the meaning of servitude. We must avoid using them in disobedience. Our role model in this is our Prophet Muhammad, the thankful and praiseworthy, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. It was narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, used to pray at night until his feet became swollen. She asked him, "Do you do this when Allah has forgiven your past and future sins?" He replied, "Should I not be a thankful servant?" (Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Gratitude to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, is a great virtue and a noble status. It is an attribute of Allah Almighty and His noble prophets, peace be upon them. Allah praised His prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, saying, "Indeed, Ibrahim was a community devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah. [He was] grateful for His favors. Allah chose him and guided him to a straight path."

Allah Almighty has blessed this land, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by uniting the people, bringing their word together, dedicating worship to Allah alone, and following the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, as it was freshly revealed. This is a great blessing, and it is incumbent upon us to speak of it and be thankful for it.

Great nations remember their history and use it as a tool for guidance and education. They take the achievements and lives of their forefathers as motivations for elevation, giving, uprightness, and encouragement to achieve all that is beneficial for Islam and Muslims. A nation that does not know its history cannot properly shape its future.
