Karur stampede: Crowd mismanagement, lack of amenities worsened the tragedy, say locals
Locals say the congested venue, absence of drinking water, and lack of basic facilities made the situation unbearable. Children were seen climbing poles for a glimpse, adding to the risks. The timing, coinciding with Saturday wage day, further swelled the crowd. Many believe the tragedy could have been avoided with better planning, an open venue, and stronger security measures.
