In the world of Peak Performance, there’s so much talk about the “grind.”

While hard work is required, most of us over-stress ourselves in our quest to achieve.

🙋🏻‍♀️ I certainly did…

I’ve burned out multiple times in my life - in athletics and in business. 😮‍💨

In addition to the burnout not being sustainable, living that lifestyle caused health issues that have taken me over 18 months to heal, and it’s a journey I’m still on.

🛑 Now I’m doing things differently…

- I’ve slowed down.
- I’m more in-tune with my body.
- I prioritize rest & down-time.

Some might think that this leads to lower output or lower performance - but I’ve found the opposite!

🤓 And that’s not just my anecdotal experience, more and more studies are starting to show this too!

There’s an excellent quote by Nicola Jane Hobbs that I’ve based the question in my post on:

“Instead of asking, ‘Have I worked hard enough to deserve to rest?’
I've started asking, ‘Have I rested enough to do my most loving, meaningful work?’”

So now I ask you…

👉👉👉 Have you rested enough to do your best work?

This doesn’t mean being lazy, it means you’ll have to:

- Set boundaries and say no TO YOURSELF.
- Choose long-term goals over short-term desires.
- Uncover and adjust your limiting beliefs.
- Be proactive about your mental health.
- Force yourself to slow down.

Try it this week!

Do you struggle with negative self-talk?

Here's a powerful exercise to help create more positive pathways in your brain:

Create powerful affirmations!

Take the "negative statement" or thought you currently have and REVERSE it... what's the opposite of that statement? Then create a powerful affirmation around the positive thought.

Example: If you're feeling fear or anxiety, the opposite of that is to have courage or to be more steady. So the powerful affirmation that reflects that could be "I am courageous and calm."

Today is World Mental Health Day.

The *most important* thing you can do today (and every day) is be proactive in taking care of YOUR mental health!

Here are a few things you can do:

🌳 - Take a 10 minute walk outside without your phone.
✍️ - Brain dump all your thoughts onto a piece of paper or digital doc.
😮‍💨 - Take 5 deep breaths.
📵 - Take breaks from technology.
🥳 - Celebrate at least 5 recent wins.
🎧 - Listen to a 15 minute meditation.
☀️ - Spend some time in the sun.
🤸🏽 - Play!
