Day 15 of writing my fantasy novel with only 1930s tech. I’ve been busy and haven’t had time to sit down at my typewriter, however that should change soon. Today I sat down and quickly finished the prologue. It’s a messy four pages, but it sets a clear tone, which is one of the harder parts for me

4 days into the "write with 1930s tech" challenge, and it’s actually harder than I expected. I write the best if I know what I’m writing about, so I’ve been doing some research/world-building. Things should move a little faster now.

Day 2 of writing a novel with only 1930s tech. Day one wasn’t very productive, and I have a lot of things to get used to. I decided to make my life easier and do some rough outlines of what the story is and finish with some of the world building.

And because it’s so nice out I decided to do it outside!

This is a picture of my Remington Rand typewriter. I plan to use this typewriter to write my next novel. It’s set in a secondary world very closely based on the 1930s and the peak of pulp fiction,

To make it a real challenge, I’ll be writing the story using only 1930-era technology. (Rules apply, stay tuned for a later post)

Will I make it? I’ll be posting regular updates in the community tab, as well as long form videos on my thoughts. This is going to be far different from what most writers do today.

Interesting things are in development.

Also have a nice picture of my bookshelf that are in my YouTube videos. I like to read the books on the shelves behind people that I watch on YouTube. Sometimes it’s hard so here’s a good picture for you to see.

The Leading Edge Magazine, BYU's sci-fi/ fantasy magazine that has been published since the 80s, has been hacked. As you can see in this, picture, the page now is a very generic marketing website.

It really is sad that this happened, especially for a magazine that was created to give feedback in order that the writers that summit will be able to learn!

The War of Rohirrim is coming out December 13, 2024, is 2 hours 30 minutes long, has Peter Jackson as Executive Producer, and follows Helm Hammerhand’s daughter Hèra.

I'm cautiously optimistic, what about you?
