Time to get back to work on one of these timeless pieces. This gown, which I'll share more about with you soon, belongs to a soon to be bride. She fell in love with the dress but knew it was going to take some work to get it wedding day ready. This cotton based Gunne Sax is just gorgeous but it is covered in reddish pink stains on the trim, bodice and throughout. Some of the pigment is set in all the way through both the top layer and the inner under dress. I'm currently meticulously removing the stains by hand one by one to try my very best to give her a gown she can feel her absolute best in! 🥰

It's time for my 1-2 times a year hair reset! Although running around with semi-blond hair is quite fun 🤭

For those who ask about my hair, the top question I get is; is it hard to maintain? The answer is, not really! Once or twice a year I bring the color up again by stripping out the color and leaving just a bit at the roots. It's probably the most time consuming part honestly. Usually though I just retouch my regrowth about once a month and sometimes I'll refresh the ends with a little tinted conditioner. The biggest thing is that I don't wash my hair a lot, maybe 1-2 times a week as needed. I had to train it to be able to do that because most people don't realize that the reason for their hair getting so oily is because they've trained their scalps to do that from the excessive washing, but it works for me and I just dust it with a little baby powder at the roots if it is feeling greasy.

Can't wait to have my pink back again though!

Oh goodness! Can you guess how many times I had to wash this dress yesterday before the water started to finally run clear?? 😬

The vintage velvet Gunne Sax dress is currently drying but it could take some time. I don't like to put velvet out in the sun because it risks heat exposure and could lead to imprints, discoloration and/or disfigurement. So instead it is currently hanging in my shower and the fabric is very thick and heavy. It could take a few days before it is dry but once it is I can focus on spot treatments!

Vintage Green Velvet Gunne Sax Dress Update: Well my power might be out but at least my water is working! For the next few hours I'll be working on this beauty to see how much ick I can get out of it before doing more intensive spot treatments.

The biggest thing I'll be watching for during this process is for any sort of dye transfer so I'll be using lots of cold water and will most likely have to change the water out frequently. Wish me luck!

After weeks and weeks of planning, it was finally time to surprise my boyfriend with a party for his birthday... And not just any party...a Magic the Gathering style party!

So much time and thought went into getting this right because I decided to invest myself in one of his favorite hobbies. His brother and his friends spent weeks teaching me the ropes and even helped put together a deck for me all of my own. When my boyfriend came in and saw everyone ready to play he was completely surprised, but when we showed him that I would be playing too and had dedicated time to learning to play, he was practically beaming.

Many games, slices of pizza and cake, and laughs later we all finally got to bed all tuckered out from keeping a secret for so long. I'm so happy that we pulled it off and that his friends were so dedicated in giving him the best experience they could for his special day 🥰

This is going to take some practice but it is definitely a fun thing to get to do for the first time! Yesterday I discovered that the random lot of raw Amber I decided to buy on impulse/could/ hold secret prehistoric critters or debris and that got me instantly hooked on trying to polish one just to see! This piece looked dark and jagged but it was a piece I was willing to lose of need be to learn on. I used my Dremel to lightly sand off the top layer and then used a soft wire brush to buff out some of the remaining dust (that's what it looked like once I was done in the middle picture), then I used sandpaper from 320 grit to 2500 and wet sanded it by hand to get the more polished look. I could've gotten it shinier but this was just the practice. I also accidentally dropped the piece right towards the end in my sink and broke off the tip of it ☠️ but that's all about the learning process! I'm looking forward to trying it all again soon

I spent my day getting to celebrate one of the mothers in my life by going out on a fishing charter. My partner's mom has a real knack for catching some beautiful fish! We spent all morning/afternoon out with her boys seeing what we could find. Although we didn't get to bring any home with us due to either the season or size of the fish (she caught a 38" lingcod and that was 2" over the limit), we did truly enjoy the experience. I think now all of us will want to go back just to try it again one day!

Happy mother's day to all of you who celebrate 😊
