This essay by the novelist Brandon Taylor is essential reading about the Alice Munro revelations, written by someone who endured abuse and was not cared for by his family even as they knew. blgtylr.substack.com/p/what-im-doing-about-alice-m…

New today! Shawn the Book Maniac and I discuss Don Delillo's work and the idea of the "systems novel." It is a fun conversation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaSIM...

Over at @bookcougars, they're playing a book roulette game where they've selected three random numbers as coordinates for a bookshelf. The numbers today are 4-3-2 and on the shelf in my office where I have some older editions, those numbers led me to George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, copyright 1949. This book came to the family via my librarian mother-in-law, who must have rescued it from a library giveaway at a local Denver Catholic school. #bookshelfroulette

The Book Cougar podcast is one of my must-listens; they publish every other Tuesday and talk about a LOT of books, authors, and their biblio-adventures across the bookish world.

This is a favorite short story collection of mine by Tessa Hadley, Married Love and Other Stories. And it's on sale. Not an affiliate link, just a recommendation for excellent writing and characters.

Happy holidays! Our company will be here tomorrow and I imagine that I won't be seeing booktube videos through Christmas, so I wanted to say thanks to all the people who have been so nice to watch my channel and comment and be such positive presences in my life. I will be back soon to wrap up Remember December and to come to some kind of closure to 2023 reading. Stay safe and healthy and happy and I'll see you soon.

Name: Sonya
Channel topic: Videos about what I've read, am reading, will read. Mostly literary fiction and memoir. I have a voxer account for potential buddy reads.
I design books, mostly for small organizations and self-published authors, and live in a Denver suburb with a lovely husband and unbearably sweet cats.
