The race for the Webby update: We've fallen from 1st place to 2nd place. The Wakanda Forever podcast has taken the lead. We're trailing super close behind, but there's still time to vote! bit.ly/49g5mxT

This morning I woke up to news that my *indie* podcast is nominated for a Webby Award for the episode where I interviewed Hayley Williams! It's nominated alongside Oprah's Super Soul Sunday and Marvel's Wakanda Forever podcast, and admittedly I'm a little intimidated to be nominated alongside such big shows as an independent podcast! I'll definitely be needing the support of my community to bring this one home.
In order to vote you have a create an account which I totally get is a little inconvenient, BUT it would mean a lot to me if you did! You can vote here! bit.ly/49g5mxT

March 31, 2021 I uploaded the first episode of Black People Love Paramore podcast (aptly titled Black People Love Paramore) with the intention of creating not a Paramore podcast, but a space for marginalized folks to feel safe, seen, and represented. Mainstream media sees us in a very limited capacity, so instead of waiting for mainstream media to see us in totality, I decided to take a stab at it.
In case you didn’t know, Black People Love Paramore podcast is *not* about Paramore, it’s a pop culture podcast about the common and uncommon interests of Black people *for* Black (and other underrepresented) people. Episode topics have included Anime, Ariana Grande, Ginger Ale, Uno, etc.
March 31, 2021 changed my life. Planting seeds, watering them, and watching them grown into something beautiful has brought not only incredible opportunities, but unparalleled confidence, risk tolerance, and maturity.
With these newly-developed traits I’ve been able to do things I could’ve only dreamed of before:
—I threw/hosted my first live event (pictured below)
—I participated in my first live show
—I attended my first award show as a nominee
—I interviewed Hayley Williams
—I’m speaking at a conference about podcasting next month for the first time
and many other things I’m very proud of. As much as I’ve given to this show, this show has given to me two fold. Happy birthday Black People Love Paramore. Thank you for everything.

Some news – a few days ago I was nominated for an Ambie award for Best Indie Podcast Host for my show Black People Love Paramore! For folks who may not be familiar, the Ambies are the awards for excellence in audio given by The Podcast Academy.
This is my first time being nominated for an award for my podcast, and as an indie podcaster, I am beyond honored to be recognized. Only members of The Podcast Academy can vote for the Ambies, so if you're a member, I'd love your consideration!

A humorous podcast about the seemingly random, underrepresented interests of different niches of Black people! Episode topics include Paramore, anime, and astrology, Tony Hawk, UNO and more. We hope to help Black people feel *scene*... get it? New episodes every other Thursday. Hosted by Sequoia Holmes. Theme song by prod.joelteon. Cover artwork by Pedro Fequiere.
