They also had a record month in the US store as well.

Google still driving the bulk of the sales.

Do Google Ads Still Work For Ecommerce Stores in 2024?

I get asked this a lot.

Most of the time from people who aren't running Google ads. Or they may have run them for a short time and stopped.

There a misconception out there that Google ads no longer work for Ecommerce businesses.

Let's explore this.

I'll start off by saying that I run Google ads in much the same way I did years ago. Not a whole lot has changed if you understand the fundamentals.

Sure some campaign types and settings have changed. But the actual purpose and

All they are designed to do is get a searchers attention, get them onto your website and prequalify them to being a buyer.

Google ads cannot guarantee a sale. Despite being pretty good at find quality customers.

We then try and feed Google as much data as possible to continue to go out to find more customers for us.

Initially you'll find you're going quite narrow with the type of searches you appear for.

Our job as PPC marketers is to use the right campaign types, settings and optimisations to force the algorithm to start going broader and find you more customers.

We do this by forcing the algorithm to spend more ad spend, but we also look at profit. We cannot neglected ROAS and profit. Otherwise we cannot keep spending.

The idea is we spend profitably and keep reinvesting in the campaigns, products and areas of Google that make sense.

We keep things profitably, by not getting emotional and killing off anything that isn't making sense.

Remember though, sometimes it can be hard to know if there are changes you could make to improve results and when to just outright pause something.

More on this soon..

I hope this helps you all.

Really strong quarter for my client. They are an Aussie Ecommerce Supplement company.

With 45% growth in revenue!

Mainly Google ads but with some Meta, TikTok, email and Bing.

Funnily enough the Roas is actually climbing…

I always tell people the clients that I get the best results for are those that stick around the longest.

They must also genuinely want to scale.

Most people think they want to scale. But when things break they quickly back off. Things will break several times.

You just need to know what to do to get things back on track.

If you’re stuck between $50k - $500k I can more than likely help you grow profitably with my Google Ads focused Ecommerce method.

Why I've Stuck to Google Ads for Ecommerce 8+ Years...

Sticking to one thing for a long time is my Superpower.

I'm a stubborn grinder, with a passion for keeping things as simple as possible
By doing this I became an expert at my craft and made my content a referral machine. For me this was Google Ads for Ecommerce Businesses.

I do understand how hard it is in this day and age to stay focused.

Every day we marketers hear of the next big thing. Promising amazing results. It's easy to get caught in all of this hype.

But I promise you this. If you pick one thing and stick to it for at least a year. You'll be significantly better off than you are right now.

If you can do it for 5 or 10. you will be truly amazed at what you can achieve.

In my recent video I talk about my journey of sticking to Google Ads for so long. I'll leave the link down below for you to watch.

I hope you enjoy it!

For the last 4 years I’ve stuck to working with ecom brands normally doing $50k plus per month and looking to scale.

I did have a few doing less that I really enjoyed working with from either a product or client perspective.

I’ve done this for a few reasons.

1. I actually enjoy the scaling process.
2. I’m really good at it
3. I find it ads more value than “ads management”
4. Clients value this service more
5. If you can get them results they stick around for far longer
6. I found I could charge more due to the greater value placed on the service.
7. As long as the clients get good results you become invaluable and they become your greatest referers.
8. Because of all of the above I put way more effort into their business and treated it as if it was my own.

While I always used YouTube, my posts in my Facebook Group and other content as my way of helping those earlier on. I’ve been getting asked a lot about coaching and in particular group coaching.

Again this is mainly aimed at those earlier in their ecom, Google ads or agency journey.

If you’re keen I’m going to be doing monthly group calls in small groups, as well including my course and access to any workshops I do this year.

The idea behind it is to get you up to speed as quick as possible with the strategies that currently work. Getting you to $10 to $50k in sales ASAP.

So you can either run your ads yourself or others. Or make more money to invest into getting me or someone else to manage them down the track.

Send me a message if you’re keen and I’ll send you the info.

I’ll be keeping the groups small so this will likely only be open a short time.

Shopping Feed Optimization helped with the below 52% increase in sales.

Learning how to optimize your feed and how to maximize Shopping sales, is vital to succeeding with Google ads.
With the rise of Performance Max, many marketers have completely forgotten how to optimize their Merchant Centre feed and their Google Shopping Campaigns.

Most of the sales in Performance Max, are actually coming from Google Shopping.

Take the time to master feed optimizations, as it's still extremely important!

💪The Needle Movers:

Fix Errors 💰💰💰💰💰
Title 💰💰💰💰
Image 💰💰💰💰
Price 💰💰💰
GTIN 💰💰
Category 💰💰
Description 💰

By focusing on these, you can maximize your results. While also not spending huge amounts of time getting overwhelmed.

I’ve been working heavily on this stores feed to force it show for more impressions, improve ctr% and the conversion rate.

I’m dropping a video soon on this very topic. So stay tuned

Do you have experience managing Google Ads in (X) ecommerce niche?

Could be Beauty, Fashion, Electronics, Supplements, Outdoor Goods etc.

I get this question a lot...

This is just my opinion, but once you know how Google Ads work and have a general framework for what works/doesn't.

It really doesn't matter. The process is very similar.

While there are some nuances for higher risk categories or ones Google doesn't quite like.

What is more important is knowing what your businesses goal is.

Note - it does need to be realistic. If you come to me saying you want to hit a $1million per month. But last month you spent $10 and made $50k in sales. I will call you out on it.

Once you know how this all works. It's about being a good capital allocator and having good business accumen. That's what we PPC Managers are. Capital Allocators.

Any Google Ads Agency, Freelancer or Ads Buyer should be able to put a plan to help get you either to your goal or get you closer to it.

Are forecasts always right? No, but who's are?

Do you think niche experience is important? If so, what changes do you make to your strategy?

As part of my weekly routine, I now film a quick results wrap up.

This week because it fell at the end of the month, I looked at the whole month that was.

One particular standout was a client we started working with in March this year. Obviously confidentiality is really important to my clients. But I can share some of the key details to the success.

When they came to us Google ads was just an afterthought. There was no real strategy other than “we need to be on Google”.

I see this a lot with ecommerce brands that are Meta or social media ads focused.

The issue with this is, Google is a completely different beast. With a very different mindset, strategy and optimisation process.

By approaching it like you do your social ads. You’re setting yourself up for failure.

Back to our client, when they first came to us they were struggling to spend over $5k per month on Google.

I knew there was potential because on Meta they were full steam ahead. They also had a great brand and business overall.

The account definitely needed some work. But by implementing my system that I’ve perfected over the last 7 years we’ve achieved some great results.

Last month we spent almost $28k@6x ROAS. You do the math 😛.

This slow and steady scale meant we didn’t break anything. We also able to be profitable in both March, April and May.

No cowboy crank and pray here 🙏

If you want me to pull together a plan to scale your brand, just reach out.
