Shri Shri horichand Thakur(1812-1878)a Sonaton religion and founder of Matua religion,was born in Safali Dhana of kashani upazila in Gopalgonj(Greater Faridpur)on 11 March 1812.After permanent lively live in the Orakandi of Muksudpur subdivision in Gopalgonj(Greater Faridpur).His father,Yashomanta Thakur,was a Maithili Brahmin and a devout Vaishnava.Shri Shri horichand Thakur's doctrine is based on three basic principles- truth,love and sanctiy.They doctrine treats all people as equal;people are not seen according to castes or sects.This is why his followers believe Shri Shri Horichand Thakur to be an avatar(incarnation) of Vishnu, and are from the lower strata of society.
