Please don't thumbs down this post β I have some bad news: unfortunately, modular buildings have been banned from the Bricklink Designer Program. I'm very sad for the talented designers that have been creating these incredible models. This was a great opportunity for them to earn a substantial, potentially life changing payout. I'm hoping that they're able to still find their much deserved success in their design work.
Modulars are one of my favorite themes in LEGO, which is why I provide coverage. They're also one of the most popular series on the channel, so I know a lot of you enjoy them, too. I'm sure LEGO has legitimate reasons for the ban, so I'm definitely not going to speculate.
However, here's how this change affects my channel...
Β· I've had to cancel my in-progress "IDEAS I'd Love to See in Bricklink" project.
Β·Β I'll no longer create a dedicated modular building video for upcoming Bricklink series.
Β· I'll still cover the quality modulars that I come across in IDEAS. I know those don't get chosen, but I also understand that some of the designers enjoy the notoriety and appreciation.
Β· I'll need to look for ways to keep the channel sustainable, so you may see a bit more variety from me. I'll do my best to understand everyone's general interests and provide you with the best quality videos I can.
I've pivoted many times on this channel and that's quite normal for a YouTuber to do so. It may not be as easy for LEGO fan designers to pivot their interests and styles, so be sure to show them your support whenever you get a chance, whether it's through comments on my channel or going directly to their designer pages that I link to in the descriptions. They put a lot of time and care into what they do.
