Genesis fans may have noticed that I have started uploading some 'Revised" videos. This is one . Phil Collins talking about Chester Thompson. These Revised videos are almost identical to those that were hit by the copyright strike I wrote about in my last post. I have edited out anything that might be challenged re copyright. Hopefully these new versions solve the problem and provide viewers with those much loved raw interviews. Enjoy !

If you subscribe to my channel because you're a Genesis fan, you may have been surprised to see that several key Genesis videos have been removed from the Channel. This was due to a copyright challenge from Mercury Studios, a division of Universal Music.
Ten years ago in 2014, I wrote and directed the documentary "Genesis : Sum of the Parts". The film was shown on the BBC and on Showtime in the US. Eight years later, I began retrieving some of the original long form interviews from my old drives and tentatively uploading them to Youtube. All the indications have been favorable that these interviews are a welcome addition to the Genesis archive.
The sad fact is that I do not have the ultimate copyright and Universal Music has chosen to exercise their right to ask for some videos to be removed. However, there are still 24 Genesis videos that remain on the channel.

This weekend I reached the unbelievable number of 35,000 subscribers !
It's amazing to me - having started this crazy venture on May 11th 2021 with no idea of what I was doing !
Would anyone be interested in watching long unedited interviews from my years of making documentaries ?
Would YouTube even carry stuff that's over an hour long ? How to get these videos off old tapes and into a format that YouTube accepts ? What about the degraded video quality ? .. uneven sound ? .. the often jumpy camerawork because they are outtakes ? etc etc ...
Well now I know the answer !! If the subject is compelling enough, all the technical imperfections become far less important to most viewers. Although I do understand those who are still bugged by the quality of some of this.
Over the next few months I am going to try and improve the audio and/or visual quality of some of my most popular interviews. Plus I'll be uploading more new stuff as I dig into my old store and digitise more tapes !

If you're a Genesis fan, I'm guessing you have probably watched at least some of my Genesis Reunion videos.
You know they are unique. - in spite of the very poor audio quality.
My latest upload here is a 5 min clip of the five guys discussing their last reunion gig in 1982.
I have added posters and photos to give it more interest but the key difference here
is the *MUCH IMPROVED AUDIO *

If you think it is worth doing, my intention is to have a similar audio remix applied to the entire 2hr+ Genesis Reunion interview . Does it make a difference ? Certainly my voice comes through more clearly now.

Today is the 2nd Anniversary of the launch of this YouTube Channel !!
I started it on May 11th 2021 when we were still in the grips of the Pandemic. I had no idea what I was doing.
Two years and a lot of hard learned lessons later, much to my amazement, the channel has gained over 25k subscriptions! It's been an eye-opening journey into new territory for a veteran documentary maker.
One thing that's very clear to me is that you subscribers are very engaged with the content I am choosing to upload.
Your responses can often be passionate, detailed, intensely opinionated. That gives me the energy and motivation to keep searching my archive for more.
Many of you have made it very clear that you value the raw interview footage of musicians that was originally filmed for my documentaries and never seen before ,as they were filmed long-form and largely uncut .So I have found myself digging into piles of boxes looking for old tapes and sending them to be digitised. Searching 12 year old drives for raw 'rushes ' interview footage . I have even taken apart old lap tops and extracted their hard drives to see if there's some lost gem on there !
Judging by your enthusiastic responses in comments, my endeavours are really appreciated. That's a great motivator to keep going ! I love reading all your comments - the negative as well as positive !

Such a huge surge in viewers had also produced a surge in subscribers !
