Daarom vieren we op 5 mei Bevrijdingsdag. π³π±

In alle provincies zijn er festivals om de vrijheid te vieren. πΊ
(In all the provinces, there are festivals to celebrate freedom. π€)
Ook denken we vandaag veel na over vrijheid. Wat betekent vrijheid voor jou? π

Op 4 mei is het Dodenherdenking in Nederland.
(On May 4th, it is Remembrance of the Dead in the Netherlands.)
Vandaag herdenken we de slachtoffers van de Tweede Wereldoorlog en van oorlogssituaties en vredesmissies daarna.
(Today we commemorate the victims of the Second World War and of war situations and peace operations afterwards.)
Als je in Nederland bent, kun je het volgende merken:
(If you are in the Netherlands, you may notice the following:)
- Om 20.00 uur is het twee minuten stil. Er zijn bijvoorbeeld verschillende openbare herdenkingen, in veel openbare ruimtes gaat de muziek uit en treinen blijven even stilstaan. Wees dan dus, als je in Nederland bent op dat tijdstip, uit respect vooral even stil.
(- At 8:00 PM, there will be two minutes of silence. There are for example various public commemorations, in many public spaces the music is turned off, and trains come to a stop. So, if you are in the Netherlands during this time, please be silent out of respect.)
- Veel mensen hangen de Nederlandse vlag halfstok. π³π±

Morgen is het Koningsdag. π We vieren dan de verjaardag van koning Willem-Alexander. Er zijn dan vrijmarkten en grote feesten en festivals.

Learn Dutch on the streets of the Netherlands with Easy Dutch!
Easy Dutch is a project to help you learn Dutch in an authentic and fun way. We interview people in the streets of the Netherlands. We also create "Super Easy" videos where members of the team speak in slower Dutch, in order to help beginners and intermediate learners. All our videos have subtitles in Dutch and English.
