There is a new and short video live about the Netherlands. Geodiode will be slightly changed in the near future. We use a different voice so we can broadcast the channel in multiple languages. It may take some time to get used to the voice, but the videos are still made in-house and with love!

Wow 200k subs already! Only 9 months after breaking 100k. The growth of the channel continues to accelerate. And that makes me very happy.

Thank you to all for continuing to support and help grow the channel.

To mark the occasion I'll be doing a one hour plus special on a completely new topic, but which still relates to history. I hope to have this completed sometime in November. Stay tuned!

Community memberships are now active! Following my discontinuation of my Patreon program, I felt it was more appropriate, and easier for supporters of my channel to be recognised in the comments and premiere chats with special emojis etc.

So if you'd like to support the channel, please click "Join" on any of my videos. Thanks again for your support!

The day finally arrived... The major milestone of 100,000 subscribers has been reached! A BIG thank you to all of you who have watched, liked, subscribed and shared over the last 5 years. Onto 500K next!

I'll be making a special video on this over the next few weeks, but part of that is waiting for a certain package to arrive in the mail ;)

October Update:

Hello again Geodioders! It's been a while since I last gave you an update on what I've been doing.

Well, you've probably noticed that my frequency of new videos is frustratingly slow. It's not through any lack of dedication or interest in the channel, but due to the heavy demands of my main job leaving me with little time or energy after the week is over... :( Also, the nature and length of my videos means the number of hours preparing each one is a lot longer than it was in the early days of the channel (for instance, Russia was almost a full-hour production, compared to the 10-15 minute length of Secrets of World Climate or Biomes series).

I'm continuing this "masochism" of long productions with a very special production to be released early next month on a VERY special country (hint in the photo ;) ). It'll be an hour-long exploration of this country's 5,000 year history, the first of a two-parter, with the second half focusing on the geography, economy and culture of this place being released in December.

This is in celebration of the channel approaching 100k subs, so I thought it was important that I mark the occasion with an extra-special piece.

So I hope to see you all at the premiere early in November. Make sure you've got your bell notifications turned on, so you don't miss it!

Hi All! A quick update on the channel. I'm pleased to say that the number of subscribers continues to grow at an accelerated rate, and we are on course to hit the breakthrough level of 100k around August!

Some of you may have wondered what was going on with my re-publishing the original viral video of mine, that of "Sweden". Well that video, as you know, had music from Abba in its titles, and as a result I could not monetize it, nor could I control what type of, or frequency of, advertising that the music copyright holder was putting on the video, potentially damaging user experience. So the new upload has the same content, but with music I own the license to. I estimate that Abba probably took about $1,500 in ad revenue for their small contribution to that video, and that's enough! I'm pleased to say that the new upload is exceeding expectations and is the fastest growing video released to date!

The next video in production is, following on from the Northwest Passage in my new series on "Infamous Geography", about Krakatoa, one of the most violent volcanic eruptions in recent times, and possibly the source of the loudest sound ever heard. It will premiere next month, so please keep your subscriber notifications on!

In other news, and in celebration of the wild success of my most recent original video in the Nation States series, on Russia (which is so important today in order to understand more about the root causes what is really going on in that region)... I now have a Russian Blue kitten! Here is "Dima", please make him feel welcome!

50,000 subs! Another milestone reached as the channel continues the surge of growth at an order of magnitude beyond anything previously. Japan and Iran videos have both gone viral in the last few weeks, which I am relieved to hear as those two took sooo long to make! Tropical Rainforest now at 2M views, and Sweden busts the 1M views barrier!

I have completed the edit of the "Living Landscapes" video, which features the music from the Biomes series, set to appropriate landscapes. Sadly, the release of this has been delayed to a frustrating ContentID dispute over one of the musical tracks that I do have a license to use. Hopefully the dispute will be resolved in the next 2-3 weeks, so I can get that to you.

With the success of almost all of the Nation States of Earth videos now, I have decided to renew development of this series. As previously mentioned, these videos take significantly longer to produce that 10 minute climate videos, so even with the renewal of the series, I'll still only be doing a couple per year. The first one of these will be about a very important country on the global stage, and one that has held fascination for me since childhood. It will be the longest scripted production I've committed to so far, at about an hour long, so please be patient!

Following this video, which should be done by early March, I'll be beginning a new series of shorter videos about places around the world which, through their geographic nature, have left a lasting legacy on humankind. Where geography shaped history - "GEODIODE'S INFAMOUS GEOGRAPHY" :)

Thank you again for all your support, and for liking and sharing my videos, and keeping your subs! See you all soon!
