We Love in Color is much more than a photojournalism book. It's a movement to give interracial couples a voice of their own. The escalation of racism in today's political and social climate has increased the need for compassionate discussion of race and prejudice. It's not just the white community that has negative social attitudes about interracial couples; minority communities have biases as well.
While many of the couples interviewed said they are colorblind and don't see race, one must be reminded it is racial categories to which we have all been assigned that define us. Looking at someone as the same denies the fact that that person has every experienced racism.
