The coolness of Fall brings the brisk need of cuddling in the arms of someone you love ....while listening to jazz...eating pride and each other like dark chocolate covered cherries....spitting out the pits of inhibition..and swallowing down..shiny..wet... juicy ..free.... sweet love....

Help me to shatter this darkness,
To smash this night,
To break this shadow
Into a thousand lights of sun,
Into a thousand whirling dreams
Of sun!

I'm so happy to talk about being a part of this project. A children's book that shares stories of growing up trans. I transitioned early... *clutches pearls*.. in the late 1900s...๐คฃ
So I always wanted to tell the story of my youth coming up in an imperfect but loving family, meeting lifelong friends & teachers who help me overcome discrimination as a trans adolescent. This set the foundation to become the happy leader that I am today. I am alive because of my family and friends from my youth.
Of course I hope the children see me as a possibility model but I also hope these stories encourage parents who are on the front line supporting their children in the face of these personal attacks and anti trans legislation.
I hope you check it out and get you a copy and let me know what you think

Diamond Stylz is one of the veteran voices of the millennial black trans community. She started her activism at 17 when she won a First Amendment rights lawsuit against the Indianapolis Public School system. A victory, with the help of the ACLU, that allows her to go to the prom in a gender-affirming gown instead of a tuxedo. At 19, she was the first openly trans woman to attend the legendary HBCU Jackson State University where she honed her passion for activism. Diamond is the host and producer of Marsha's Plate, a weekly podcast that centers on trans-inclusive pro-black feminism and pop culture. I have worked with ABC, BET, SXSW, Stanford Univ, Essence, The Root, Aljazeera, and more. For any Business Inquiries email me @ diamondstylz@gmail.com
