A man once approached Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and confessed, “I am a man who sins, and I cannot stop sinning. Please give me some advice.”
The Imam replied with a powerful reminder:
“Do five things, and then sin as much as you want:
1. Do not eat from Allah’s sustenance, and then sin as much as you want!
2. Leave Allah’s dominion, and then sin as much as you want!
3. Find a place where Allah cannot see you, and then sin as much as you want!
4. When the Angel of Death comes to take your soul, push him away, and then sin as much as you want!
5. When the keeper of Hell (Malik) wants to put you in the fire, refuse to enter, and then sin as much as you want!” Bihar al Anwar Vol 75 PG 126
This powerful hadith from Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is a reminder that no matter how much we try to escape, we are always under Allah’s care and cannot avoid His dominion or His sight.
