Potato harvest this year.
I think I have been expecting something I’m not planting. I’m expecting bake potatoes.
I’m not planting russet potatoes so I shouldn’t be getting them. 😆
Don’t remember planting any red potatoes either. Third year trying potatoes and best harvest yet.

Howdy y’all. With rain creeping in and unsure what this harvest was going to look like I didn’t do a video. In ground potatoes did the best. The ground and pots were just too wet for the potatoes. Better harvest than last year so at least I’m improving. Next year I’m going to grow them in a raised bed that is almost 2ft deep.

Northern lights were over East Texas last night. While they weren’t visible to the naked eye, other than a red tint, this is what showed on pictures taken with my phone. Wife read about it online is the only reason I went out to look and noticed anything. These are raw unedited pictures taken with my iPhone 14.

Howdy y’all. We live on five acres in East Texas. We moved out here back in 2022 and are just starting to really put the land to work. Our hope is to get as self sufficient in as many things as possible.
What does this mean? Self sufficient to us is that we aren’t having to buy something from the store. For example, this year (2024 harvest) we were able to produce enough onions and bell peppers to last through to next harvest. While we realize onions and bell peppers aren’t expensive, we have control of what is going into the soil and plants during the growing. Our onions and bell peppers taste better than the store bought ones (this happens with most things grown in a garden).
Some days are packed full of a bunch of homestead chores but some days are spent just doing yard work like weed eating for a couple hours and mowing for 3-4 hours all in the heat of East Texas.
Come along with us as we figure out the homestead life.
