Everyone remember seeing that pink patch along the edge of the Sun during the total solar eclipse last month? Here's what it looked like through my solar telescope! This image was taken early in the partial phase of the eclipse when the big prominence along the top was just about to be covered up by the encroaching Moon.

Believe it or not, I'm still processing image data from the total solar eclipse a month ago. Almost done. I fought with clouds during the entire eclipse but thankfully I do have a few images that have turned out well. Hoping to have more to share with you soon.

It's eclipse time!! Set-up today took three times as long as normal. Equipment and clouds just didn't want to cooperate. I hope you all have great views of the solar eclipse, unhindered by clouds. As you watch, consider tuning into the NASA SolarStream in Carbondale - at the Southern Illinois University campus. They will be live streaming starting at 11:00 A.M. (Central). If all my gear behaves, they (and NASA) will be pulling footage from two of my telescopes. Not we just need to hope the clouds hold off here in Eagle Pass, TX!

Looking for a small but fun challenge during the partial solar eclipse this coming week? Teachers, looking for something that will help you justify taking your students outside even if you will only have a partial eclipse? How about a hands-on activity taking your own direct measurements to measure the diameter of the Sun!

Over the years, I've honed this lesson for my online astronomy students. I hope you enjoy it as well. Purchase the procedures and all supporting documents for $1 at TotalityTown.Net

With the solar eclipse less than a week away, I've been very busy on my Totality Town YouTube Channel. Lots of other good stuff over there as well.

Want to know what it looks like to livestream the Sun through two telescopes at the same time? Kind of like this. I laugh at the photo because it looks cleaner than it feels.

I'll be live streaming my next practice at 12:30 P.M. (Eastern) this Wednesday, March 27th (weather permitting). It will be short - only about 15 minutes or so, but there should be a lot to see because the Sun is incredibly active right now. The show will be on my other channel: Totality Town. Come join me as I practice for the April 8th total solar eclipse.

This is what I'll be doing on eclipse day as I gather data for the Dynamic Eclipse Broadcast Initiative and the Solar STEAM projects.

One of my recent videos was about the meteors I unexpectedly found in my star trails image from the Northwoods back in late December 2023. It was an experiment because I'd never done a "Short" before on YouTube. I didn't like it. One of the results was that I didn't even get to share the full-size version of the final image I took because I was explaining the interesting details of the meteors.

So here are the star trails, plain and simple. Enjoy!
