HELLO FRIENDS!! Our trip to Oregon for the semimar sort of messed up our schedules. Our flights got delayed by up to 4 hours! I also didn't take into account the time difference. So this program has been moved to 12:00 PM PST, which will be 3:00 PM EST.
Don't miss this one! We've got some strong refutations to Mike Colburn coming up. SEE YOU SOON! @searchingtheword

REFUTING FOUR COMMONLY USED VERSES TO SUPPORT SUNDAY KEEPING
Mark 16:2: This text, in context, simply shows Jesus resurrecting on the first day of the week. That doesn't make the "day" any more special then Friday when He died as the lamb of God. But if critics insist it does, I will insist the Sabbath is just as special since on that day He rested in the tomb. However, this is a description of an event that took place, not a prescription for things Christians now need to do on the first day of the week.
John 20:19: This text only says they were gathered together "for fear of the Jews" not to celebrate the resurrection, which they did not even believe took place yet at this point.
Acts 20:7: This meeting took place on a Saturday night actually (note the references to lights in verse 8). The only reason for this gathering was because Paul was rushing to travel the next day. He was "ready to depart on the morrow." Nothing in this text says they gathered to celebrate the resurrection. In fact, they were "breaking bread" which would more fittingly represent Christ's broken body on the cross, which happened on a FRIDAY, which I am sure most won't think we need to keep as a special day for gathering every week. Moreover, three days later Paul had a meeting with other believers on a Wednesday (verses 17 onward). That doesn't make Wednesday a special day of assemblies.
1 Cor. 16:2: Contextually, this gathering of gifts (not people) was for the purpose of sending those gifts to Jerusalem (verse 3), who was currently suffering a severe distress. Verse 5 says he'd pass by Macedonia for the same purpose. Compare this with Romans 15:25-26. This may have done a few times but obvious the distress was not to last forever, therefore, this was a temporary measure until the distress subsided and the "poor saints in Jerusalem" were back to normal.
Critics can't find ONE TEXT that supports Sunday as some special day of gathering in the New Testament. But they will quote "Church Fathers" and early documents to support their assertion. We defy any person in the early centuries who taught contrary to scripture and identify them as those who would be "wolves" entering "among you, not sparing the flock" and those "of your own selves... speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them" (Acts 20:29-30).
This is Edwin and I approve this message.

The Advent Defense League (ADL) is a ministry dedicated to bringing you answers to common objections against Adventist beliefs. On this channel, we teach and defend the doctrines of the church as outlined in its 28 Fundamental Beliefs, specifically its most controversial subjects such as the Sabbath, Law and Grace, the State of the Dead, Hellfire, the Heavenly Sanctuary, the Investigative Judgment, and others. We unapologetically take a hard stand against critics of Adventism. If you are a critic producing anti-SDA videos, in all probability your video will show up here for a critical review and refutation.
