Did you catch our marine specialist Ben on ‪@TimeTeamOfficial‬'s latest episode?

They covered the incredible #SandayShipwreck, exploring burning questions like:

⚓️ Could this ship belong to the Dutch East India Company?

⚓️ How did the local community keep the shipwreck wet for almost a year?

⚓️ What will the experts do next to figure out its provenance?

There’s so much more to this story and we’re thrilled to play a part in unravelling its mysteries! watch video on watch page

⛏️ Breaking news! ⛏️

Our team have discovered one of the oldest and most complete wooden tools ever found in Britain!😱

Uncovered during excavations for The Moors at Arne project near Poole in Dorset, and carefully lifted by our experts, this Bronze Age spade has survived intact for over three thousand years and today we’re delighted to be able to share it with you. 🤩

It is extremely rare for organic material like wood to survive in the ground for this long except in exceptional circumstances, making the spade an extremely rare discovery.

Hewn from a single piece of oak, it’s likely this would have been a precious tool and a great loss to its prehistoric owner, but now it is giving us a fascinating insight into the relationship humans have had with this challenging waterlogged landscape for thousands of years. As the story of the spade unfolds, it poses many questions that our team are keen to explore.

We’re delighted to be working with ‪@RSPBvideo‬ , ‪@EnvironmentAgencyTV‬ , ‪@naturalenglandvideo‬ and ‪@KierGroupplc‬ on The Moors at Arne project, adapting over 150 hectares of land into a diverse wetlands habitat. watch video on watch page
