Michael Carufel takes playing with fire to a higher-level dating
back to his teenage years in the 1970's when it simply meant
Kingsford® charcoal grilled chicken with Open Pit® BBQ sauce
on Sunday afternoons.
Carufel joined The Northeast Barbecue Society (NEBS), and was accepted into The Kansas City BBQ Society judging school. As a KCBS Certified Barbeque Judge, Carufel learned how to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket.
In 2018, Carufel was certified as a judge for the World Food Championships, the largest competition in Food Sport in nine food categories including BBQ. To date, Carufel has performed judging throughout New England.
