Hey y'all, Mikey here.
We've had LOTS of comments and emails lately as to what's up with Cris and me since we've not been on camera for a bit.
First off, lemme just say that Cris and I are completely fine and healthy. Our marriage is solid and our relationship is the best it has ever been in the 25 years we've been a team, so absolutely no worries there.
When my mother passed away last year it was pretty tough, especially after losing my dad only a couple years before. We lost our beloved Octavius last year and our cat Skiddy this past Spring. Compound that with the world going through the mess it is in due to COVID and losing a dear friend from it, we decided to take a break from the camera. Frankly, it's hard to smile on camera when you're not ready to smile and for those of you who know us well, you know we are as real as it gets. We don't fake anything nor would we ever try to.
I have decided to pour the majority of my focus into music and it has payed off quite well. I just released a new Christmas single this year and even got some recent exposure on our local news station from it. Album #2 is currently in the works along with booking more shows in 2022 both here in Indiana as well as along a future trip we plan on taking soon across the country.
Cris is still hard at it managing the blog and the business. She's keeping me, Miss Add and Aunt Lou in line so she's still pretty busy. In the meantime she's diving into artwork and books that she enjoys.
Speaking of Aunt Lou...
When Cris and I decided to take a break from the camera, Lou immediately volunteered to step in and take on more of the filming. Nobody asked her to, but she wanted to keep creating content for y'all since she loves y'all as much as we do. For that we owe Aunt Lou a huge thanks. She truly is a gem for all that she does for RTC. She may be my sister-in-law on paper, but in real life she's nothing less than my kid sister.
I'm sure Cris and I will eventually be back in front of the camera cookin' up amazing dishes and cuttin' up for y'all. But it will be in our time. For now we're focusing on each other and holding on tight.
The past couple of years have been hard on everyone in some form or fashion. One of the greatest lessons we have learned from all of it is that we need to be kind to ourselves and each other. We hope you feel the same way, especially during the holidays where lots of folks need loved the most.
Happy Holidays to every one of you. We hope this season brings you peace, hope, joy and love. Especially love.

We've been a bit sporadic in our posts for a bit. We've had some things happen that have slowed our mojo and we haven't been sharing it publicly. My mother didn't want the world to know she was sick and we respected that. It also meant that I had to step back from creating content for you as my heart and mind as well as much time as I could give was devoted to my momma.
I know there will be rough days ahead as my family struggles with such a profound loss. But know this: I believe with all that I am that Jesus welcomed my mother home yesterday and though I'm filled with immeasurable grief, I still have joy in knowing this life was but a stepping stone for her into an eternity of peace, hope and infinite happiness.
We're gonna take a break from taping shows for a small season. For those of y'all who have been looking forward as well as have invested in the new album, it is what I will be focusing on for the near future. Music is my therapy so I intend to get through this time by consuming and creating it to make you the best thing I can in the hopes that I make you as well as what would have made my Momma proud.
Recipes won't stop coming to the blog and the newsletters will continue to come out like always. We have an amazing team that will keep you updated on all the GOODe food.
