Innocent Takudzwa Mudzimu, a Zimbabwean long-distance runner born in Mutoko and raised in the vibrant streets of Makosa Growth Point, has successfully completed the 2025 Comrades Marathon, a grueling 90 km race known as "The Ultimate Human Race." The iconic event drew over 22,000 athletes from around the world this year, challenging both body and spirit on the legendary Pietermaritzburg to Durban "Down Run."

Innocent crossed the finish line in an impressive 9 hours 44 minutes, earning himself the Robert Mtshali Medal, awarded to runners who finish between 9 and 10 hours. This marks a remarkable debut in the Comrades Marathon for Mudzimu, who only qualified for the event earlier this year by completing the CBZ Full Marathon in a personal best time of 3 hours 16 minutes.

> “Crossing that finish line felt like a dream,” said Mudzimu in an interview with ZimQuik Television after the race. I ran this race with all the heart of a Zimbabwean warrior.”

Innocent joins a growing list of Zimbabwean athletes who have dared to take on the Comrades challenge. He draws inspiration from former Comrades Marathon champion Stephen Muzhingi, a three-time winner, and seasoned elite runner Marko Mambo, both of whom have flown the Zimbabwean flag high in the past.

This year’s edition saw a strong Zimbabwean presence, with over 200 runners representing clubs and fitness groups such as R.I.O.T ZIM, HAC, Musabvunda, Norton Fitness, CBZ, ZIMRA, Fitness First (Bulawayo), and GRC Gweru, among others.

Mudzimu extended his gratitude to those who stood by him, including Old Mutual Zimbabwe Running Club, Zimbabwe Republic Police, Running Is Our Therapy Running Club, and Musabvunda Sportswear, for supporting his debut in the world-renowned race.

As he recovers and reflects, Innocent is already setting his sights on the 2026 Comrades Marathon, where he aims to qualify once again—this time in pursuit of the coveted “Back-to-Back” medal, awarded to runners who complete their first two consecutive Comrades.

> “Next year I’m not just coming back—I’m coming back stronger,” he told ZimQuik. “The Robert Mtshali medal is just the beginning. I want to push for silver and one day follow in the footsteps of legends like Muzhingi and Mambo.”

Innocent's journey is a shining example of determination, community support, and the power of sport to transcend boundaries. From the dusty roads of Makosa to the paved finish line in Durban, his story inspires a new generation of Zimbabwean runners dreaming of making their mark on the global

Kutenda Children’s Home in Nekati Village, Bindura Rural, received a heartwarming donation yesterday from Agape Family Care, a charitable arm of the United Family International Church (UFIC), led by Amai Ruth Makandiwa.

The donation, which included dozens of food hampers, was warmly welcomed by the children and staff of the orphanage. In an interview with Zimquik Television, orphanage Director Prosper Maponga, who is continuing the work started by his late father and supported by his surviving mother, expressed deep gratitude for the support.

"We are so touched by the love and care shown by Agape Family Care. These food hampers will go a long way in supporting the daily needs of our children. I hope this spirit of giving will not end with us — may it spread to many others in need," said Mr. Maponga.

He went on to extend a heartfelt message of appreciation to Amai Ruth Makandiwa and Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, saying: "We are truly thankful to Prophet Makandiwa for supporting Amai’s vision of caring for the vulnerable. Your kindness brings hope and joy to our children."

Kutenda Children’s Home, located under the jurisdiction of Chief Masembura, provides shelter, education, and care to orphans and vulnerable children in the rural community. The home continues to rely on the generosity of well-wishers to meet its growing needs.
