Balancing work, household chores, personal growth, helping a partner grow, staying connected with relatives, planning and raising children—all while maintaining a systems approach to life—is an incredibly challenging task. It’s essential to pay attention to every aspect of life: family, career, self-development, leisure, and relationships with others.
I have a hypothesis that many couples struggle with this balance. Some prioritize goals like buying a house or starting a family but may not have overarching ambitions beyond these milestones. Others aspire to find meaning, create something impactful beyond their immediate circle, and be true partners—not only in their personal lives but also in shared achievements across family, career, and other areas.
Based on this hypothesis I envision that there is a need to create a tool that helps couples and families strategically plan their lives together. This tool would:
1. Facilitate Strategic Life Planning: Start by identifying dissatisfactions, prioritize them, and create hypotheses to address them. Transform these ideas into actionable projects and tasks, planned weekly.
2. Serve as a Shared Repository: Include a space to store and organize shared interests like movies, podcasts, educational courses, and notes for strategy discussions.
3. Integrate AI for Retrospection and Insights: Use AI to track weekly progress, analyze why certain tasks were missed, and provide actionable suggestions for improvement. AI could also offer timely reminders, such as planning date nights, reviewing leases, or preparing for family traditions.
4. Enable Proactive Planning: Help couples prepare for significant life events, like transitioning to a new job, starting a business, or buying a house, by tracking key metrics (e.g., interest rates) and ensuring financial feasibility.
5. Promote Leisure and Connection: Address the often-overlooked need for planning quality leisure time and shared experiences, strengthening the bond between partners.
This tool would promote partnerships that go beyond day-to-day routines. By providing structured systems, practices, and methodologies, it empowers couples to align their goals, plan strategically, and build something meaningful together. A partnership (to me) is about co-creating a life and building something meaningful together, and this tool ensures couples have the right resources to succeed. Currently, I am looking for couples and families to interview in order to validate (or retire or transform) this idea/hypothesis. If you are interested in participating or know someone that has similar struggles and would be open to participating please comment below.
