I can't tell you guys, girls, and kids how exciting it was to see a freight train go down these train tracks that go through a parking lot next to Marshall Ave between Fletcher Pkwy and Petree St. My whole life coming through here, I thought those tracks were abandoned, but then in 2021, I found out that wasn't the case.

Make sure you turn the notifications on so you know when my videos of freight trains on these tracks premiere. Don't miss the very rare event. I will post all of my videos below once they all go public.

As the trolley videos continue to be published in El Cajon, you may have noticed or missed in a recent video where there were some parked freight cars. Here is the video. https://youtu.be/ej_mpYoSahg

Yes, freight trains do come over here to El Cajon as well and it is rare for it to happen. It is also very rare to find videos of them here too.

It is a San Diego & Imperial Valley Railroad (SDIV) freight train that comes from the train yard near downtown San Diego and makes their way all the way down the orange line trolley tracks to make their way over here to serve just one company. Some call it the "Ghost Train" because they come here in the middle of the night once every 3 weeks to a month.

When they arrive in El Cajon, they use bypass railroad tracks and three bypass railroad crossings to get over here because there's one part of the trolley tracks that they can't use. My pictures show those bypass tracks and railroad crossings.

I have a lot of new videos of those tracks and railroad crossings being used and you will see them starting May 17, 2025 and going on through the rest of May, then you will see some more videos of the rare freight action in August 2025.

If you are reading this past May 17, 2025, then I am already in the process of publishing them and you nee to get caught up.

I really hope you'll enjoy them because it was very hard to get some very rare train action over here and it took me 4 years to get this done.

@The-y9.3foTrafficSpotter and ‪@outcrasherr‬ , you've been talking a lot about the audible pedestrian buttons, especially these two buttons that you two said I forgot to film at the intersection of Cuyamaca St & Trolley Square in Santee.

Even though I concluded my videos there, I went back to this intersection to take a picture of the buttons that you two got mad at me for not filming and here they are on the south east corner of this intersection.

Here are my two videos I did at this intersection that you said I forgot to film the buttons.

That is it for my videos of traffic signals in the city of Santee. From April 5th, 2025 to April 21st, 2025 you saw a good amount of my videos of some traffic signals in Santee with some rare LED countdown pedestrian signals that you may have spotted and also a very rare thing to see which are traffic lights and railroad crossing signals attached together with crossing bells on top of a traffic light.

Make sure you go to my new playlist called "Santee Traffic Lights" to see what you missed including some old videos I did in October of 2020. Here is the link. www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

As my videos continue to premiere down these train tracks, you will now see videos of traffic signals in the city of El Cajon with railroad crossing videos, MTS green line, orange line, and copper line trolleys and very rare freight train action too mixed in there.

From June 18, 2025 until July 28, 2025, you will see videos of just traffic signals in El Cajon including a few owned by Caltrans, and then you will see an encore of more rare freight train action in El Cajon on August 2, 2025 when I resume my railroad crossing videos.

All of that for you throughout the entire summer until September 8, 2025 when my videos in El Cajon conclude and then I'll tell you what comes next after that.

Just had a earthquake in San Diego. It was a 5.2, luckily it wasnt from the San Andreas fault where the big one will eventually happen.
Anyway, Im doing good. I'm just getting ready to go work at MTS later today to help everyone get to the Padres game. Hopefully, everyone else around here is doing good, too.

I always knew for over a decade that this intersection at Cuyamaca St and River Park Dr in Santee had one direction of traffic lights that still had all incandescent bulbs in the red's, yellow's, and green's (Google Street View Pictures Below) and I really wanted to come over here and film it, but unfortunately the red and green lights have LED's in them now so it was too late and I just chose to not go over there and film it.

I found it very odd that only this direction of traffic signals in all of Santee still had incandescent bulbs while it was LED's everywhere else.

I do know for a fact that for a long long time, these signals faced nothing but a large field of dirt that was closed to traffic, and then eventually became a park, but during the construction, the traffic lights stayed off for this direction for several years until 2011 when they finally started operating.

You're probably saying, "Well if you knew about it this whole time, why didn't you go over there and film it when it still had incandescent bulbs?" the answer is because I was still going to school every day of the week at the time and I never had a chance to.

Got some sad news for MTS trolley lovers in San Diego.

If you grew up riding the 2000 series trolley with the stairs, the cushiony brown seats where you would always awkwardly face someone you didn't know, the windows that you were able to open, those old vintage green flip dot letters on front of the trolley, etc, all of the remaining 2000 series trolley cars have retired and will eventually be gone out of the train yard.

For a while, you always saw a 2000 series trolley car in between the 4000 series low floor trolley cars or just all three or four of them together on rare occasions, then you stopped seeing them in 2023 and they just sat in the train yard for a long time and only used for spares, but now, those 2000 series trolley cars have been bought by someone else outside San Diego and will soon be taken away.

The two photos you see below curtesy of  @PositionLight  (Jersey Mike's Rail Adventures) show the 2000 series trolley cars when they were newer with those green flip dot letters on top that was lit up at night.

In my opinion, I was saddened to hear about it because I grew up with these trolley cars when I was little, I remember when these were new cars back then and now I feel so old now that they went from new to now retiring and leaving San Diego.

The last time I saw a 2000 series trolley active was back on February 11, 2025 passing by at Old Town, but it wasn't in service.

Luckily for you guys, my MTS trolley videos will premiere very soon on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 and I do have a lot of videos of the 2000 series trolleys in service for you to see as well including some rare videos from me of all three of them connected together.

Woah! Is that a freight train in El Cajon during the day? Hmmm.

That's a little taste of the very rare event I have for you guys in late May, early June and then again in August, and I will give you more information as those days get closer including where the parked freight cars are.

Here is a google street view link below of this same view where you can find the three railroad crossings on this track that the freight train very rarely uses. You will see my videos of these railroad crossing signals in action in late May, early June, and August.

Since I got a week before my Santee signals & trolley videos premiere on Saturday April 5, 2025, I'd thought I would fill up this empty week by giving you some more updates on some signal changes around the city of San Diego.

This intersection in the pictures is at W Mission Bay Dr & Dana Landing Rd and some small changes were made here.

The very rare Marbelite brand 8 8 12 left turn signal in the first picture with that enlarger for the green is gone and has been replaced with a modern McCain brand 12 12 12 left arrow traffic light in the second picture. Same for the other small 8 8 8 signal attached to it and that also has a new 12 12 12 traffic light and you see that in the third and fourth pictures. A few other 8 8 8 traffic lights at this intersection were changed to 12 12 12 traffic lights as well.

Just a reminder, "8" means 8 inch lenses and "12" means 12 inch lenses.

That's the only changes that were made. Everything else is still here. Be glad Caltrans doesn't own this intersection because if they did, everything here would of been gone and replaced with all new signals.

If you ask for my opinion on the changes here, I still didn't even think it was necessary to do this because I've come through here my whole life and the smaller signals were visible too and weren't causing any problems. I guess the city has to find some way to spend the money they are given by changing stuff that isn't even necessary. The money should of better been spent on fixing more roads.

Here are my old videos of the old signals in action before they were replaced.
