About
What images of the world, of people, of the artist, of the body does dance trigger? What connections emerge between movement, music and space? How are lines of traditions continued or overwritten? What impulses can classical ballet contribute to our present? The programme of the Wiener Staatsballett invites to a variety of interplays.
The Wiener Staatsballett is an independant joint venture of the Wiener Staatsoper and the Volksoper Wien. The artistical spectrum ranges under ballet director and chief choreographer Martin Schläpfer from full length classical ballets to contemporary dance pieces. Furthermore the company also performs dance interludes in operas, operettas and musicals in both opera houses.
