Hikaru was born out of our love for sushi & our love for each other. Our epic father-daughter sushi dinners have always been a sacred time for us to connect, catch up, and bond over our favorite cuisine. We wanted to create a wine that shines a sacred light on these heavenly meals.
Winemaker/Proprietor Chaim Gur-Arieh PhD has always been an innovator. His winemaking endeavors began after a 35-year career as a food technologist, where he was responsible for the creation of some of America’s favorite food products: Cap’n Crunch Cereal, Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, Power Bar, and more.
In 2000 Chaim & his wife Elisheva purchased land in the Sierra Foothills. They planted 42 acres of vineyards, built Di Arie Vineyard & Winery together, and Chaim brought his expertise to the art of winemaking. Di Arie wines have won many accolades incl. several double gold medals in the SF Intl. Wine Comp. They export to Japan, Korea, and across Europe, and sell their wines throughout the USA.
