GIANTS AMONG US: THE FIGHT FOR ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE
(and lots of great 70's fashion and style)

46 years ago, the USOC barred chiropractic from Olympic teams.

It was often said among the athletes that the good ‘ol boys in the IOC and USOC “would have a great time at the Olympics if the athletes weren’t there to create problems for them.” As if the Olympic Games were not created for the athletes, the labor, but as a party or reward for the officials and their cronies.
In 1976 athlete petitions were ignored and the AMA shills on the US Olympic Committee scorned chiropractic care for the athletes. “We know, even better than the athletes, what they need” said one MD in an interview. Really?
Sadly, many things in our society remain like that today.

Athletes had to fight for chiropractic care

Truly, it was the definition of amateur sport. “Go out and make it happen on your own.” We knew chiropractic worked; it helped us perform. It improved our ability to handle the daily training grind.

Today chiropractic is a standard and accepted form of athletic treatment.

It is accepted and normal today to have chiropractors and several medical staff with chiropractic knowledge on a US National team, or at major US competitions. Athletes generally view AMA, ‘western medicine type doctors’ as pretty much worthless for recovery from training or injury or reaching a top performance state.
