When I was in high school, I had big dreams of some type of successful career in marketing.
I remember reading an article in my Dad’s MotorTrend magazine about a Cadillac CTS-V. Cadillac’s first performance car…
And I told myself…
One day I’ll have a professional career, I’ll dress nice, and I’ll drive a car like that.
But what really happened was…
I flunked out of college, battled with addiction, and really struggled financially.
My dreams of Cadillacs and Marketing careers disappeared as hopelessness took over my life.
I redefined what success looked like to me.
It looked more like freedom from drugs, peace in my life, and honestly just being able to pay my bills on time.
I guess it’s my past that makes it difficult for me to celebrate success publicly.
Maybe in some ways I still feel like I don’t deserve it.
I really don’t, but God is so good.
Life really didn’t turn out like I planned it back in high school.
It’s actually way better than I could have imagined.
And I still got my Caddy 😎
