In an upcoming new book about Alice In Chains frontman Layne Stayley called “This Angry Pen of Mine,” Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Metallica's Robert Trujillo, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine and more share tributes to the singer.

Taylor said in his tribute:

“I have two distinct memories about my favorite band, Alice in Chains: the first time I heard them and the time they changed my life.

The first time I heard them was obviously “Man in the Box.” Already, there was a shift happening in music in general, but AiC was the first time I heard all the elements that really resonated with me: darkness, metal, rock, and amazing lyrics. And it all circled and swarmed around Layne Staley’s voice. From that moment on, he was one of my biggest influences and favorite singers.

The day they changed my life was the day I heard “Would?” I was sitting on my couch, the movie Singles hadn’t even come out yet, and the video premiered on MTV. The bass rumbled from my Zenith and I was never the same. The sheer power that Layne sang with was unreal, especially the outro as the modulation descended into a pseudo-Phrygian scale of chords that allowed Mr. Staley to pour every inch of his soul and pain into every note he chose.

It was in that moment that I realized I could write about anything I wanted: addiction, depression, obsession, anguish . . . I didn’t need to look to the clichés that I’d been bombarded with for years. I was free.

I can say with all honesty: No Layne, no me. I wouldn’t have been brave enough to explore the things I have. So, Mr. Staley, sincerely . . .] Thank you”

The band BLACKGOLD was set to open for CKY at The Fleece in Bristol, UK last night (11/4), but backed out over issues with CKY frontman Chad Ginsburg.

The band said in a video:

“What’s happening people of Bristol? Unfortunately we will not make the show this evening. We can not do another gig next to the frontman of CKY. We can not support that type of narcissism. Our whole touring party just doesn’t want to be around it. We want to play for you guys and we do this for fun, but this has turned not fun. We can not be around that guy.

So unfortunately, we are out. We will be back real soon to play another show. We thought this was gonna be fun, little bit of nostalgia to end the year for us, but it turned out to be absolutely horrendous. We can’t support it. But hey, at least we got to see a really bad vocal cover of [“96 Quite Bitter Beings“.] F*** Chad.”

They added in the caption:
“PEOPLE OF BRISTOL. It hurts to say that we won’t be playing Bristol tonight.

Our whole touring crew cannot perform alongside the frontman of CKY. The level of disrespect we’ve been shown by this individual, leaves us no choice but to exit. Don’t be a narcissist, don’t be a dick..

We’ll be back soon with a headline. # knowyourworth”

Of course, this time last year, the story went viral with CKY being ejected from their UK tour with Alien Ant Farm after Ginsburg and Alien Ant Farm vocalist Dryden Mitchell got into it.

Former Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven is suing the band claiming they are blocking the release of his autobiography “Sound N’ Fury: Rock N’ Roll Stories.”

As reported by multiple outlets, Niven is accusing Guns N’ Roses of invoking the confidentiality clause he signed in 1991 when he parted ways with the band, but Niven says it is not enforceable because not all members of the group signed it.

He also states that at least one member of GN’R even encouraged him to write the book.

Slayer’s Kerry King prefers Metallica over Megadeth for one simple reason.

In a recent interview with Reigning TV, King and Mark Osegueda were asked if they prefer Metallica or Megadeth. Both immediately said Metallica with King adding "I'm gonna be brutally honest. Metallica has a singer. Sorry Dave."

Also in the interview, King and Osegueda are asked, “James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine?”, and both chose the Metallica frontman.

King said “James Hetfield – sorry, Dave!”

He adds, “I know I played in your band, but I’m going with James,” (referring to King playing with Megadeth back in 1984).
