Welcome to September!
The beginning of September brings a renewed energy that often awakens a sense of possibility within us.

After the summer months, marked by a different pace, this return to routine feels like a blank page where everything seems achievable.

Itโ€™s a perfect time to reassess our goals, reignite our ambitions, and choose a clear direction for the rest of the year.

This phenomenon of a โ€œfresh startโ€ offers us a mental reset, where we can set off with new momentum, refocus on what truly matters, set precise intentions, and pursue them with determination and enthusiasm.

Today, I invite you to take a moment to decide on your intention for the final sprint of the year:

A resource to find that will help you simplify, structure, or automate your business
A relationship to enrich or develop
A habit to adopt
By choosing a strong intention in September, we capitalize on this dynamic of renewal to move forward with clarity and conviction.

There have been 17 versions and 117 updates of Appleโ€™s operating system iOS since its inception.
The next version, iOS 18, is coming in September 2024.

There have been 38 different iPhone models released in total.
The next version of the iPhone, the iPhone 16, is expected to be released around mid-September 2024.


Imagine if Apple had waited to have the โ€˜perfectโ€™ productโ€ฆ how different the entire technology world would be.

But they didnโ€™t wait to have it โ€œperfect.โ€

They went with โ€œexcellent, and weโ€™ll evolve from here.โ€

This quest for excellence did not impact their value, market capitalization, or reputation in any way.

Instead, this quest for excellence places them at the top of the list of the most innovative, game-changing, industry-shifting companies in the world.

Soโ€ฆ why are we waiting to be โ€œperfectโ€?

To have the perfect branding
To have the perfect idea
To have the perfect team
To have the perfect (fill in the blank)


If excellent is good enough for Apple, itโ€™s surely good enough for us!

Letโ€™s move.
Letโ€™s launch.
Letโ€™s dare.
Letโ€™s do this.

Weโ€™ll evolve as we go!

Did you know that the Canadian dog population rose by 200,000 to 7.9 million between 2020 and 2022?

I didnโ€™t know either!

The result? Restaurants are increasingly welcoming dogs with:

Why am I bringing this up?

Because this is a great example of understanding (or forecasting) the future needs of clients.

Who would have thought that people would take their dogs out to dinner for their birthdays?

I sure wouldnโ€™t have thought of that!

โ€ข What else are we not thinking of that could help us better serve the future needs of our clients?
โ€ข How has consumer behavior changed in the last decade?
โ€ข What paradigm shifts are occurring culturally or societally? (I like this Forbes article: The Linear Life Is Dead)
โ€ข How did the pandemic, the hybrid world, and gender equality change the lifestyle and priorities of our clients?
โ€ข What emerging trends in technology might influence future consumer expectations?
โ€ข How can we leverage data analytics to predict future clients needs more accurately?
โ€ข What innovative services or products are currently underutilized in our industry?
โ€ข How do sustainability and environmental concerns impact consumer choices today and in the future?
โ€ข What new partnerships or collaborations could we explore to enhance our service offerings?

Now those are great brainstorming questions!

What if we called clients โ€œguestsโ€?




Because thatโ€™s really who they are for us and who we are for them...



They are guests in our businesses, in our lives
They are guests we get to guide and counsel

We are guests in their lives to contribute to their goals, dreams, and experiences of life



They are passing through our lives,
And we are passing through theirs



Some guests are more memorable than others,
And some hosts are more memorable than others



But what if we called clients โ€œguestsโ€?

Because they are more than clients



How would our perception of them and situations change?
How would the experience we offer change?
How would our role change?



When we think about hosting guests, we think of details, attentiveness, heart and soul, caring, happiness



One word change can bring an entirely new perspective on how we see things and how we show up




Letโ€™s start showing up for our โ€œguestsโ€



And when we do that, we lead to greatness,
And we lead *with* greatness



And greatness attracts greatnessโ€ฆ

In marketing, we often talk about CTA โ€“ call to action. These are prompts designed to encourage a specific response or action from the audience.


Today, Iโ€™m introducing a new term: CTI โ€“ call to introspection. This is a trigger you read or hear that prompts you to think and reflect, rather than accepting advice as an absolute truth instead of a perspective.


Next time you hear these calls to introspection, take a moment to ask yourself, โ€œIs this true, or could this be this personโ€™s perspective?โ€

Today is July 15th, every year I see this day as the tipping point of summer โ€”a perfect moment for introspection and planning. This mid-summer is a time I pause and ask myself some key questions that will shape the rest of the season and set a strong foundation for September.


Here are questions I ask myself on this day and I hope youโ€™ll take the time to pause and reflect on them as wellโ€ฆ


๐‘พ๐’‰๐’‚๐’• ๐’…๐’ ๐‘ฐ ๐’˜๐’‚๐’๐’• ๐’•๐’ ๐’†๐’™๐’‘๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’†๐’๐’„๐’† ๐’•๐’‰๐’Š๐’” ๐’”๐’–๐’Ž๐’Ž๐’†๐’“?
Summer is a fleeting season, filled with opportunities for adventure and relaxation. I want to ensure that I seize these moments fully. Whether it's taking a spontaneous road trip, diving into a new hobby, testing out a new restaurant or simply enjoying long, lazy afternoons with a good book and really letting the moment sink in, I want to embrace the joy that summer (and life!) offers.
**Itโ€™s easy to say we donโ€™t have the time โ€“ but remember, time is not something we have, itโ€™s something we create.

As a business leader, it's important to use this time to reflect on professional goals. What initiatives can I launch or refine to ensure a strong start in September? Maybe it's developing a new marketing strategy, refining my product line, or investing in professional development. By setting clear, actionable goals, I can leverage this time to position my business for success.
**Summer is a great time to work โ€˜onโ€™ our businesses instead of โ€˜inโ€™ our businesses โ€“ as clichรฉ as this sounds, itโ€™s true.

Looking back, I want to feel proud of how I spent my summer. This means making choices that align with my values and aspirations. Did I invest time in meaningful relationships? Did I push myself out of my comfort zone? Did I take steps to improve my health and well-being? These are the actions that will make me look back and say, "Dang, I'm happy I did that."

There are countless strategies we can use in business to grow our client base or bring visibilityโ€ฆ



We can use social media
We can optimize our website for SEO
We can go to networking events
We can host events/seminars


All these strategies workโ€”and thatโ€™s the problem!


But they donโ€™t all work for everyone.


For some, social media aligns with who they are and the type of client they work with. For others, events are the way. And for others, client referrals are the way.


Itโ€™s ๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘“๐‘ข๐‘™ ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘˜๐‘›๐‘œ๐‘ค the different strategies


Itโ€™s event more important, more relevant, to know which ones are ๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘™๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘  ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘ฆ๐‘œ๐‘ข.




We donโ€™t need to try all the strategies.


We gain more by leveraging the ones that ๐’˜๐’๐’“๐’Œ ๐’‡๐’๐’“ ๐’–๐’”.



Next time you hear about an idea, ask yourself:
