Altris was founded in 2017 with the aim of producing highly sustainable cathode materials for rechargeable sodium batteries to enable a renewable future. Our research focuses on the development of cathode materials that are composed of widely abundant materials.
Altris’ first product is an iron based electrode material for sodium batteries, called Fennac®, which is produced in large quantities via a low energy process. The material has many similarities with lithium iron phosphate (LFP): approximately the same voltage and capacity, with no thermal runway. Compared to LFP though, Fennac® contains more abundant raw materials, is less costly to produce, and also has the potential to have higher power and better performance in low and high temperatures.
We believe that batteries should enable a renewable future without an increase in cost to the customer or the environment.
