Fostering is not for the feint of heart, it takes work not just in helping the kids but in working through things you didn't know you needed to. However, getting to see the pure joy on a child's face when they learn that they are heading home after a year in care is an amazing reminder of why it can be worth it, and the giant hug said we did ok in his time with us.

4 kids in diapers... this may be the one thing that tests my full abilities on this journey. What is the most you have had in diapers at once?

This week I am getting some cooking done as the temps start to fall a little bit. Any recipes in particular you'd like to see in the coming weeks?

We had a very scary event happen that I have been debating on sharing, simply because I wasn't sure I could keep myself together, but I think I will and try to get it up on Saturday.

My husband and I have 7 children currently and after working towards adopting for almost 3 years we switched that focus over to fostering children in need of a safe and stable home within our state. Our family deals with a variety of food allergies including a couple that are life threatening, so we have learned to make a lot of adjustments and advocate. Our youngest son has a rare genetic mutation, SRRM2, that is proving to be new territory for everyone. We started home schooling when we pulled our oldest out of Kindergarten at a local public school that was underperforming. We live in the Sioux Falls area of South Dakota (originally from the Black Hills) and when the weather permits we love to get out and explore the wide variety of things available to us.
