Your girl is on the cover of this month’s @scoutmagph issue! 💚
“Musician Reneé Dominique has lived many lives as a content creator.
Having started out doing cover song music videos on YouTube, she’d already built a solid following online prior to opening a TikTok account, even collaborating with folk pop singer Jason Mraz for a single and music video and performing it live with him in 2019.
When the 25-year-old began posting her conyo girl skits in 2021, she didn’t expect anything to come of it. Skits were trendy at the time, so she decided to put her own spin on the genre by coming up with a character based off her own personality. “My whole persona on TikTok is kind of me but also just a mix of my friends and I guess just observing people who are like that,” she shares.
It was also a way for her to highlight a better side of the conyo demographic, which people really enjoyed because it was different from a lot of the negative caricatures that were floating around at the time. “When you say conyo, people instantly think of something negative. Like, oh, you’re privileged, you’re a maarte, you’re matapobre, all that stuff. But with me, based on my experience with some people, a lot of them are really nice.”
As a full-time content creator and musician, Reneé is now able to reconcile the two sides of herself, with her TikTok helping her promote her music and vice versa. “It was really interesting how brands incorporated their own thing towards my skits,” she says, adding that her Mamita content is also highly requested by skincare brands who want to promote their products on her page.”

One of the best days of this year so far! 🇯🇵
I held my first ever little meet & greet overseas! Japan–like i’m sure a lot of you, is one of the countries i love and have visited multiple times in the past year. For this visit, i didn’t want to just go on holiday like usual, but reconnect with my love for music, and meet even just a few people who have been supporting my journey.
I would have fans comment on my posts asking me to come to Tokyo, but even as i announced this, i had no expectations. I would’ve been happy even if 5 people or less showed up.
I didn’t know what was going to happen until we walked towards Last Guitar Shop which was the venue, and to my surprise saw about 25+ Japanese listeners already waiting for me infront of a cute makeshift stage where i was going to sing. I was speechless.
It was such a joy to meet everyone! They came out, waited in the heat, listened intently while i sang, engaged with me, laughed at my jokes and my japanese (thanks so much), some even got presents, and a lot of them would tell me they’ve been subscribed to my journey for many years, some even since i started back in 2013 which was 11 years ago!
I often underestimate myself and the reach of my music, and a lot of the times especially in the more recent years, i’ve fallen in and out of my passion for the craft. But this day was a testament of how powerful and wonderful music truly is, and how it is the universal language that brings people from different parts of the world together.
My heart is so full to now know for a fact that my music and my videos do have an impact on people, and i have amazing listeners who are waiting on me to make more.
I would like to thank the following:
-our host Johnson of Anuenue Ukuleles for taking care of us during this time and organizing this event-he has been supplying me amazing high end quality ukuleles for a couple years now and it’s all i’ve been using since.
-the Koyama family of Last Bird Ukuleles & Last Guitar Shop for being so lovely and providing me a space to perform and meet my fans.
-Martin, for being the best road manager, photographer, videographer, personal assistant, and supporter. I love you!
-my family who has helped push me to make this happen, rooting for me back home in Manila!
And ofcourse to all my amazing, sweet fans who came out!
I am overjoyed to have met every single one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me and my music into your lives. Thank you for supporting me all these years. You have all inspired me to keep going. I hope to meet you all again soon (on my next Tokyo performance, on a bigger venue in the future…hopefully soon! 🤞🏼)
Question is, where to next?
