Ok... did ‪@yamahaglobal‬ just make the finger drumming device I've been hoping for all this time? I need to order these asap and test them out of course, but this looks promising to say the least!

Hey everyone. I bought and tested the new Akai mpc studio and as far as the pads go, I have to agree with both Sanjay C and Loopop: The pads are decent, but when compared to Maschine mikro mk3 they don't respond as well to the softer touches. I even have one mpd218 that responds better to softer touches. (that's not the case for the other mpd218 units I own though). I'll make a video about all of this later, but for now the shortt story is: Pads are ok, but not the best for the money. And yes, I did change the sensitivity in the devices settings.

For anyone who's curious about a Maschine+ vs Mpc Live vs just working with a laptop when it comes to sampling and beat making (not really finger drumming) this is the go to video. Not by me, but by another crazy person who spent way to much time going in depth :-) https://youtu.be/gPxQpcJxbJg

Look, a standalone Maschine! vintageking.com/native-instruments-maschine-plus
If you never use the Maschine software and the sounds that come with it and just use it as a midi controller with something like Addictive drums it will probably not be super interesting. But for all of you who make beats with maschine software... sweet!

For all if you who saw my underwhelming livestream yesterday: That was a mistake, no idea I was streaming! I'm very happy I was wearing all my clothes and didn't say anything too weird :-)

Hey fingerdrummers, have you seen the new MPC one yet? AKAI didn't send me one. They either don't know I exist or they don't like me because I've been shit-talking their MPD218 / 226 /232 line (nothing but love for the mpc live though). But I'm a big fan of Accurate Beats and he just made a video about this thing. Obviously I would talk about the pad sensitivity way more, but if you're in the market for something standalone... this might be good? Can't wait to test this thing out whenever it becomes available.

GREAT NEWS! The Maschine Mikro Mk3 now has controller editor support! We can finally change the notes (and colors and velocity curves) of the pads and faders in midi mode. Simply update through native access and you're good to go!

I will do another Pad Sensitivity comparison / review soon. Below is the list of what I want to check out and what I'm gonna leave out. Suggestions? Protest? Let me know in the comments!

What I will check out:
Ableton Push 2
Linnstrument
Novation Launchpad (mk2)
Novation Launchpad Pro
Korg Nanopad 2
Akai MPX8
Keith mc Millen Bop Pad

What I will NOT check out:
Keyboards with pads on them (gotta draw the line somewhere)
Sensel Morph (latency is too much)
QuNeo (known to be not that great)
Akai Force (not available yet and hella expensive)
Midi fighters (no velocity sensitivity)
Joue Board (8ms atency is too much)
tablets/smartphone drumming (latency issues)

An these i cannot do because they're not in production anymore:
Ableton Push 1
Triggerfinger Pro
Vestax Pad One

Let me know!
