The 4 hedgehog youngesters have been officially released today in a safe place, away from any roads, houses, etc. They're at that point roughly two thirds of an adult's size, prepared for the release and perfectly independent.
A video of the release will be uploaded later when I get more time.
Despite being so tame and not showing any fear when being touched, when I returned to the spot 10 minutes later, all of them already acted not much different than your very random wild hedgehog you'd ecounter on your daily walk. Nature takes over really, really fast, especially in young animals despite the common myth that everything once used to the presence of humans will remain that way.
BEST OF LUCK, KIDDOS! 💗 Go on and live your life like you're supposed to.
The mother for now still remains under my care, until fully recovered 👌
And who said hedgehogs don't like soup, too?
😁 Mama joined to eat with her kids soon after.
(A very important information - the soup was made SPECIFICALLY for our dogs as a special treat & also given to the rescue hedgies. It contains no salt/spices/other harmful ingredients, is based on antibiotics-free meat & the pasta is one made specifically for animals to enjoy safely. Please avoid feeding your animals with your regular human food!)
Update on the rescued hedgehog family - momma is doing excellent, the wound is healing beautifully, dry and clean 😁 Soon to be released back into the wild!
For comparison, uploading two photos put together - one taken at the day of finding her - in the middle of treatment - the second one taken today. Quite the change to be proud of!
